Would it be worth bringing in a experienced FA QB in the off season? Someone to compete with Sanchez? Not to replace him permanently, but someone he could learn behind for a year or two? I'm thinking I'm thinking of someone like Kyle Boller, Daunte Culpepper or John Kitna. Before you all kill me on this think about it. We have a great rushing attack, the top defense in the league and we're going home in two weeks. The main reason is poor quarterback play. Except for the second game against the Fish and last week's loss to the Falcons, you could pin every other loss on Sanchez. Teams have a limited window of opportunity to win. Are we wasting the best years of Thomas Jones and Kris Jenkins while Sanchez's shallow learning curve pisses away games?

    wrong.....

2 losses are on Sanchez, 2 are on Special teams, 2 are on defense and we got our asses kicked in Foxboro (we sucked at everything)

And we don't need a vet to compete with him, we just need a damn worthwhile backup in case he gets hurt

I like the idea of bringing in a GOOD vet to come in and help Sanchez, even push him. Not that I think Sanchez is complacent, he shouldn't take his job for granted either. Having KC in the wings is not an option next season.

    A) No one is competing with Sanchez... he is THE starter for this organization and hasn't done nearly as bad to be taken this job away.

    B) "learning behind" as sitting while the other guy is playing? I hope not otherwise that's just plain stupid. He's had his rookie year to learn the NFL speed... now he gets a full off-season to work on getting better and he either puts numbers up or he is a bust a needs a lot of time on the bench (ala V. Young or A. Smith who are only proving they can be starters after 3/4 years of NFL football).

If we want to bring in a veteran QB to "mentor" Sanchez I think that's a very good idea... and I also feel as many QBs in this league could be an upgrade over KC. However if we want to bring in someone to compete for the starting job I think that's just stupid and part of the kill-the-rook-hysteria that has been killing this board. The guy had 16 college starts and we all knew his main knock was game-time experience... will you at least let him play a full season of NFL before counting him out of the Jets present?

Just imagine what the posts would be like if we actually had a bad "franchise" qb like Jamarcus Russel.

Sanchez sucks lets bring in Chad. Man that guy did wonders mentoring Kellen Clemens. If he isnt back up he will lead this team to the super bowl.

I disagree. All seven losses are on the team, not on individual people or units. Good teams pick up the unit that's not performing, and the Jets don't do that.

I'd be fine with bringing in Kitna or Boller or someone but not to compete for the job. It's Sanchez's job, and you all are gonna have to get used to that fact eventually. But it would be nice to have a veteran who can actually run a passing offense in the case that Sanchez goes down (read: Kellen Clemens has to go.)

the best veteran qb to sit behind sanchez to be a backup/ serve as a mentor to understanding the game more (NOT to start ahead of Sanchez) will be kerry collins. Long time veteran, understands the game well, and is probably going to be looking for a backup spot.

I heard he is disgruntled about his demotion behind Vince Young and admitting it publicly to numerous reporters. I dont think we need anymore drama around here.

We should have had a vet this year behind Sanchez. Next year there's no point. We're not going to bench Sanchez after all the suffering this year unless he fails to make progress next season, and truthfully if he plays at the level he's played at this year moving forward we don't need a veteran QB to replace him we need a young one.

Look at who actually played as rookie QB's over the last 40 years. Sanchez has put up just as good a performance as all but Marino, Ryan and Flacco, and a much better performance than a hall of famer or two in there also. All indications would be that he now turns it on and has a decent season next year and then really shines moving on from then. That's the progression.

Sure it is on the team, but those particular units/individuals did particularly terrible in those games that we lost

It is not a bad idea to bring in a vet. But Boller, Culpepper? He already knows how to throw INTs.

I agree. If Chad can still throw, bring him in as the backup, fire Schotty, and the offense will be improved.

The last time your boss threw you aside were you more than willing to come running back to him at first chance?

    But nobody understands that.

Ryan and Flacco ruined the curve and now Sanchez is expected to be as good if not better than they were in their rookie year, all the while forgetting that Sanchez is a lot less experienced then they are with schemes that aren't QB friendly.
