I just want to make a quick about our QB and I'm pretty sure quite a few people on this board will agree while some others just hold utopian views.

If you look at the general level of QB play in the NFL one has to say that it is pretty low. You can hardly name more than 3 to 5 QB that play well over a whole season.

This year I would name Manning, Brees and Brady - and even those three arguably have knocks on them

Manning never won the big one, Brees struggled in his early years in SD and was close to being out of the league, and Brady arguably has had the best coaching staff in the league and a sick clutch kicker behind him for most of the years

Nevertheless, those three are great players - what I said before was not my opinion but I was only trying to show how some people criticise QBs(the hardest position on the field)
Defenses scheme very well against QBs and the offensive line play isnt great in the league.

Given the points I made before we should realistically assess Chad. He is a good QB that gives us a good shot at winning. His weaknesses are his arm strength and he has recently lost some of his accuracy and ability to protect the football (usually his biggest strengths). Yet he has a decent career record and won more games for this team than he lost.

Its perfectly fine to criticise him and prefer a QB with a stronger arm. However, its ludicrous to say he is on of the worst QBs in the league or that clemens gives us a better shot to winnning now.

So the Chad bashing should be put into perspective and especially the flipflop way of bashing one week and glorify him the other.

Well, he is one of the worst QBs in the league. There are only a handful of starters that have a worst TD:INT ratio then he does. Lets go right down the line of guys that have clearly outperformed Chad this season and see where he falls:

Brees, Palmer, Huard, Garcia, Romo, Rivers, Manning, McNabb, Bulger, Brady, Losman, McNair, Hasselbeck, other Manning, Delhomme, Favre.

At best you can call him mediocre, but certainly not good, even with the generally poor level of QB play. From what I've seen so far we'll be adding 3 more names from this years draft to the list soon enough, too.

I agree that Chad is a decent QB...but I guess after 38 seasons of futility, Jets fans are fed up with mediocrity.

There is no need to make these type threads to defend Chad. Anyone with half a brain knows he is a large portion that they have had played so well and suprised the entire league. Its funny how quickly people forget that the Jets were supposed to be the worst team in the league and because of Chad the Jets are competing for a playoff spot. In any case, like I said the true intelligent fans know what Chad means to the Jets. Besides dude could win the Super Bowl and some moron will make a thread about something negative.

He really had a hard time with the zone the bills were playing. I wish we would have come out and RUN the ball more. We passed on the first 5-6 plays??? Play to the weakness of your oppnt as much as your strengths. But we def should give Chad more respect than we have been, do you think we would be 7-6 with Ramsey? and did you see Clemens yesterday??? Chad is our best option and will be for 2-3 more years

You are so right. Pennington is done, he is not getting any better. This season, in which we don't have the personnel to seriously contend, was the time to look at our options at QB so that decisions could be made for next year. This was the season to see if Clemmens can cut it or if we need to look else where this off season. Instead, we stuck with a washed up QB, and now next season is shot, because we will have to use that season to find out about our QB situation. Same old Jets - that's why they haven't won for 38 years. Why just forfeit one season when you can give away 2?
