Now I've had my PS3 for a while I want to get online with it. I'm using wireless and its settings indicate that all is 'suceeded'. the message I then get is that I shoould go to settings and download the latest version , which then takes me to another message , that I already have the most up to date version , I click on OK and it goes to a download bar and says 'updating blah blah blah' but the bar stays at 0% and doesn't upload.
Is there another setting that I need to apply as I can't register the console or do anything else.
    Any help appreciated.

I had trouble with downloading the first update I ever had to do, so I just went to the PS3 website, downloaded the update onto a flash drive from my compuet, and manually installed it. since then I haven't had any problems downloading an update directly from the system update function.

Yes. But it doesn't download. I have the bar and message saying that the latest software or whatever is being downloaded but nothing happens.

Not a bad idea that , if all else fails I'll do that. I have a back-up drive. I'll have to ask a 10 year old what I'm doing wrong
