So my PS3 is spazzing out on me. Was working fine just a few hours ago, but I turned it off to get some Chinese food, and when I come back and try to load a movie to watch, it just simply wouldn't load. Movies OR games. The disc drive wasn't even making a sound like it usually does when it reads a disc. It's funny, cause I bought a PS3 thinking it'd be more reliable than the supposedly troublesome 360. So much for that. I've already requested the customer service form to return the thing. I'll probably buy some sort of disc drive cleaner tomorrow to see if that might help, but most likely I'm shipping it back. Anyways, was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems with their PS3. I'm also considering flat out just exchanging the thing for a 360. I've had my eye on Gears of War 2 and the new Banjo-Kazooie for a while, so who knows.
The PS3 isnt meant to be owned by pussies. You sealed your fate when you went out for Chinese food. Seriously though, never had a problem with the disc drive, I find that puzzling that yours isnt working.
This happened to me about 3 months after I bought it. They took it back and gave me either a new or refurbished one. I took that one and it has worked fine for like 7 months since then.
Yeah as long as you're still in your warranty they should replace it for you pretty fast, its not a big deal. My ps3 broke a month after my warranty expired (wouldn't turn on) and they still replaced it for free, which was awesome. Oddly enough I have a near launch 360 and it hasn't broken yet, but man what a POS, the disk drive is totally fucked up and games have trouble loading sometimes and also freeze every so often. Hopefully both systems last though, since I'm definitely out of warranty on both of them now.
You mention 'noise'. Mine has never ever made any noise at all , ever. When I put a disk in (any) you don't even hear it load, its that quiet. Warrenty?
