Blaine Gabbert is a hell of a prospect. If Andrew Luck really is thinking about staying in school, it'd be stupid for Gabbert to remain at Mizzou. Aldon Smith will probably be the top pass rushing prospect in 2012. Tyler Sash has another year of eligibility left, but he's already graduated. He may opt to leave early. Like I said in another thread: Adrian Clayborn > Christian Ballard NC State and West Virginia are playing right now. WVU's Noel Devine and Robert Sands are the two guys I'm watching in this game. Devine is always fun to watch. Sands will be a legitimate target for the Jets in the upcoming draft. Jock Sander and Tavon Austin are also very explosive players. NC State has Nate Irving, who in my opinion, is one of the best linebackers in the country. Ben Watson's little brother Asa isn't draft eligible yet, but he's going to be a very good tight end. He's used primarily as a blocker right now. He backs up George Bryan, who is a sleeper tight end. Keep an eye on Bryan. He's one of the best blocking tight ends in the country.
What about Bruce Irvin for West Virginia? I read somewhere he leads the Big East in sacks. Better for a 4-3, or what?
I'm extremely excited to watch tonight's Iowa v. Missouri game, lots of good to great prospects playing in this game. Also, can't wait to watch ECU v. Maryland, specifically to watch Dwayne Harris, who interests me a lot as a mid-round slot receiver option for our Jets.
Sands has looked pretty solid, made a big tackle against the run on that 2nd and goal and tripped up a guy earlier who would of ran for a touchdown
I love Dwayne Harris, one of my favorite receivers in the class. He reminds me a ton of Jerricho Cotchery (hands/consistent/not fast but plays it), so I'm not sure about his fit here, but I think he can be a really outstanding #2 WR.
I'm no expert like you guys, but Harris is a playmaker. I've seen quite a few ECU games this year, anytime a big play happens, he usually has the ball.
Yeah, I was fortunate enough to see the glory days of Rivers and Cotchery at NC State during grad school, and Torry Holt in undergrad. I was spoiled, it was fun.
Agreed, I like the comparison to Cotchery a great deal. Having a similar player to Cotchery however is not a bad thing, and I love his experience in the slot at ECU. Could come in and be of instant help to Sanchez in the slot if we lose one of Edwards, Holmes, or Cotch (which I believe we will). I see him as a 4th round player ATM, and if I could get my post count up to 50 (to make a thread in the draft forum) he'd be in consideration for me there.
I am more inclined to the work of the foot soldiers - in this case, Phil Taylor. How did he fare? Is there any chance Jets may snag him?
...the fuck? Anyway, Phil Taylor and the Baylor Bears play against Illinois tonight in the Texas Bowl. You'll be able to judge for yourself. I think he'll go around the 4th or 5th round.
Oh. I keep messing up with the dates. My bad. 4th or 5th? All right. I will keep my eyes on him tonight.
I would love for us to possibly go after Da'Rel Scott from Maryland. We could get him round 6 or 7 and he would be a great third prong back. I honestly think he could be a starter in this league if he can stay healthy. Here is a video of him for those who don't watch Maryland Football (probably most). This is from his 2008 season. He is really fast but is big enough to break through tackles. Since he was a Freshman he has definitely put on some more muscle.
