I’m sorry, but I'm trying to be optimistic here and it’s just not happening. To lose this game they way we played yesterday is an absolute abomination. You can’t possibly be taken seriously as a contender for the Super Bowl when you come out and have a performance like this.
If by chance we win our division, and have a 2 week layoff, is this the type of performance we expect? This is on the coaching staff. Maybe Rex should stop boasting about having the best team in football in his mid-week rants and concentrate on getting his team better prepared. This game was a disgrace, and speaks volumes about where this team really is. I’m not confident that we’re a better team than New England, Baltimore, Miami or Pittsburg at this point, and if anyone does, they are tremendously kidding themselves.
You want to incessantly boast unequivocally about being the best team in football, then go out and win 14 games and shut your mouth. The only way we recover from this loss, is to win the next 5 games in a row, seat ourselves at 10-2 and only then does this game became an aberration or minor misstep. Fact of the matter, with the coaching and player performance witnessed yesterday, that aint happening

    Dude, we didn't lose 41-0.

Some people are out of their minds.

It's always tough to stomach the 2nd loss on the last day of October. I can totally see why there is no room for any optimism for the rest of the year. I mean if we have another stretch where we go 5-2 that would make the Jets 10-4 and we all know that won't cut it.

I hear the Vikings have some new openings (and more every minute) available in the "suicidal fan" department. Go apply.

This is a ridiculous thread but out of curiosity (and apologies if its been discussed in another thread) has a team ever gotten shut out at home during the regular season and then gone on to win the SB?

Jesus H Christ. Team's 5-2. The Giants had 6 losses and were ready to fire Coughlin and rebuild the team a few years ago, then they go and win a SB, but at 5-2, you think this team is pretenders and you're ready to bury their championship hopes. Great post, Debbie Downer

At least you waited until the end of November to create this thread last time.

I asked this question in another thread and someone said the '03 Patriots lost their opener, 31-0, to the Bills and then went on to win the Superbowl.

So that makes 1 team. At least we have history on our side.

    HOLY SHIT!!!

    Just one example of many-

The 2003 Super Bowl Champion Patsies, opened the season that year by losing 31-0 to the freakin Bills. The Bills were 6-10 that year.

They also had a game that year just edging out the Browns 9-3 or something like that.

Good, even great teams have bad games.

Just last year the Saints closed out their season losing 3 in a row.

2008 the Steelers lost to the Eagles, 15-6, oh my god how can any team considered a contender only put up 6 points??

2007 the Giant got blown out by the Packers in week 2, guess who they had to beat on their way to a Super Bowl? Also got blown-out by the Vikings that year too.

2006 the Colts one of their four losses was a blowout by the Jags.

2005 the Steelers got blown-out by the Colts and later on during their Super Bowl run beat them in the playoffs.

Basically without directly calling you a moron know that I'm on typing this while laughing at the stupidity it must've taken to create this thread.

You must be out of your mind. If this is the kind of performance we expect, how do you expect us to win? If we win our division, I expect huge things from us since that way we'd have to play better than the Patriots.

Yeah, every team is gonna suffer through some bad games or stretches; I think that's inevitable.

As far as shutouts go, is it still only 1 team that's ever been shutout and gone on to win the SB?

Yeah, but the Jets have never won a SB without Joe, so its not going to happen this either.

I totally agree with all of the ablve. The only problem with our alleged "great" team is we havent played one great game yet. Troubling.
