Late tonight, tomorrow and Saturday I expect this board to go nuts when: 1. The Faneca rumours turn out to be posturing for a bigger contract from Arizona where he winds up 2. Calvin Pace does not choose the Jets 3. No trade happens between the Jets and Detroit or Carolina. But Rodgers winds up in Miami 4. We learn that Vilma's physical was somewhat other than positive 5. The only new rumour is that the Jets are in hot pursuit of a free agent that was on no one's list as a prime candidate. Such is the offseason of a Jet fan.

And if Vilma fully recovers the NYJ CS owes him a chance to compete for the position beside Harris (he can beat out Barton in my estimation). I really hate to have Vilma devalued for himself and for the NYJ as well because of this degenerative bone problem in his knee. I hope nobody offers the NYJ what they're looking for for him.
You're kind of right, we should expect and hope for the least so they can't break our hearts in the first 24 hrs..... But if ALL 5 of those things go wrong it's the fox soccer channel for me.
or... 1. we wrap up faneca and our he makes mangold and dbrick a lot better 2.calvin pace does not choose the jets...but we get vernon gholston, and he becomes the next demarcus ware 3.we trade robertson to detroit for damien woody and a 3rd and then we trade vilma to the jags for stroud 4. we somehow get chad johnson or randy moss, this will give us an elite recieving core regardless if coles stays *(i love coles and i want him too, but business is business) 5. we have a good draft that shores up the rest of our needs and creates solid depth for the next 8 years....the glass if half filled this year, pats vs giants in the superbowl will make our FO get trigger happy
Coming off consecutive off-seasons when our "impact" signings were Kimo and Kenyone Coleman, if this is the case, I'm seriously not watching a game this year.
I don't think Faneca signs with Cardinals. They have like the worst cap room in the entire NFL and they haven't restructured contract with Fitzgerald. And according to Arizona Republic: "The Cardinals are not expected to agree on a restructured contract with Larry Fitzgerald before the free agency period at midnight ET. The team will be seriously handicapped and out of the mix for any big free agent names (i.e. Alan Faneca, Calvin Pace) with no restructuring in place."

What's the over/under on "sky is falling" threads? This is my 4th or 5th and we have yet to sign an impact guy in those years. I wouldn't expect anything to change this year. I will say this, if this team is serious they better make a move this offseason.
Arizona has negative cap room Pace is choosing between 3 crappy teams... we have the most upside (SF,MIA) Jenkins or Rogers is fine with me.. but it would suck if they went elsewhere Vilma's knee could be bad, we'll see. We are the Jets, we will try out alot of crappy FAs. Enjoy the next 6 weeks
HAHAHA. So true. Knowing the Jets and the way things have gone in the past, I'm going to say guilty until proven innocent. My hopes are high but my expectations are low.
Prettttttttty much. I actually think we will sign a player or two in the next week, but there will be people expecting us to sign 5 or 6 players by noon tomorrow, and they are people that will be starting the whining threads. I have tempered my expectations by thinking about the past 7 offseasons.
You guys are forgetting the next other threads like why havent we signed every single big named FA? or the even worse ones that deserve its own category of "We must sign Moss" threads, those pop up every year.
