Become the best 3-4 ILB in football by season's end. That's right, better than Scott, better than Ray Lewis, even better than Patrick Willis. The only knock against this guy right now is his coverage skills and I think those are improving with Scott next to him and Ryan as his coach. This guy is all over the ball carrier, running back, quarterback you name it. He comes up with a terrific INT last night. He can power and shed blockers.

This is also just giving appreciation to the Hitman. We tend not talk about him because we are really focused on the offense and vernon gholston understandbly, but this guy is just amazing. He is almost like Curtis Martin on defense, quiet, but gets the job done. Again David Harris will become the best 3-4 ILB in football at season's end IMO. Thoughts?

He's looked great in preseason, but I think that might be pushing it...

    that's some pretty lofty praise.

I love David Harris' play thus far in preseason.....and i think he'll flourish in Rex's system....but to predict he'll be the best 3-4 ILB in the league by season's end....is a tad premature.

I bet he'll be in the top 5 overall 3-4 MLB but i still think he's behind Jerod Mayo, Ray, Patrick Willis and James Farrior

I'm more concerned with Harris being able to play a 16 game schedule.....

he looks like a savage beast in the preseason.....but his biggest roadblock is being able to stay healthy.

It's definitely a possibility with his talent, he just needs to stay healthy.

I'm a huge David Harris fan, but let's not get crazy.

Harris is a great runstopper and can make some plays in the backfield. Coverage skills are still a work in progress.

There were many on this site last year calling for Harris' head...eventhough he was bang-up most of the year. I'm thrilled to see Harris back to his 2007 form.

David Harris is a perfect compliment next to Bart.

Harris is a beast, he actually over achieved his draft profile. He was thought of as a stout linebacker with not so good speed and quickness but a great general for the defense as well. He turned out to show the speed and aggressiveness towards the play he wasn't thought of having.

I remember Adam Schien talking about how lofa totapu of the seahawks told him he thought Harris could be a top 5 defender in the league forget linebacker. He had a monster season racking up tackles, but he also showed he could rush the qb well.

I think hes going to be a beast for years to come right up their with Willis but with more of a well rounded game then Willis but not as much of a truck as Willis.

Harris fell into rd 2 cause his speed was in question...good point!! Harris has terrific football speed without wasted motion and quick instincts.

When the Jets traded up in Rd 2...I was hoping for Harris. Not too bad....Revis and Harris in Rd 1 &2.

I dunno about best in the league, but if he stays healthy he is going to have a monster season. Bart Scott is going to take up a lot of attention and blocks, so Harris is gonna have space to operate which we all know Ryan can take advantage of.

    Completely Agree!! :metal:

Will need to see how Harris has iomproved his pass defense before I can put him in top 5.

For all that Ray Lewis does from leadership and tackles, his pass coverage skills are grossly underrated. It was said the other night. No LB has ever gone 30/30...Sacks and INT and I think he needs only 1 INT to get to 30.

I think Mangini wanted him to put on some pounds last year so he could take on blockers more on the strong side. Probably part of the reason he got hurt last year. Harris is very talented. Great size, speed, tackler.

I'm a huge fan. Hopefully he can stay healthy and return to '07 form. He actually seems faster than ever to me.

    He'll finish with 100+ tackles, 8+ sacks, 4+ INTS, 5+ Fumbles Forced

No doubt in my mind that he'll be one of the top ILB's in the NFL. I don't think someone can go from relative unknown to being the best in the NFL in just one season. We can't crown him that soon.

Also, to the above poster... those numbers you predicted for him are not realistic at all.

    This.

If Harris can stay healthy, he can be one of the best in the game. Never will forget that 20+ tackle game against Washington in his rookie season.

I've never been more convinced that this entire Jets forum has turned into a cesspool of obnoxious, terrible posters. How does anyone sift through the shit posted in here? Is there a filter that we can create to search for original thoughts backed by concrete evidence, or are we all doomed to read this load of crap on a daily basis.

And before a Mod comes in and declares me a troublemaker, think for one second what this place has seriously turned into. Most of the good posters avoid this forum like the plague for this very reason. Jesus H. Christ.

Lets all get some perspective. We constantly rip one player for no apparent reason other then to call them a bust. We have bi-polar attitudes when one player does a good job on a given play, and then mess up on the next. We completely blow another player up, claiming they will be the best by seasons end. We have irrational posters who flip out after someone having a crumby play, and demand they are cut. (And I use the term "we" very loosely.) Does it ever end?

Oh yea, I like David Harris, but you are clearly delusional if you think hes going to be the best ILB in the NFL by years end. He's not even a 80 in Madden for shit's sake.
