Will there be surprise cuts? How many WRs, TEs and QBs will the Jets keep? It's early, but could be fun to see what the predictions are and to see who winds up being the closest to who is on the final 53. I think the Jets will keep 25 on offense and 25 on defense. Offense QB (3) - Rodgers, Wilson, Streveler OL (9) - AVT, Becton, Brown, Mitchell, Schweitzer, Tippman, Tomlinson, Turner, Warren WR (6) - G. Wilson, C. Davis, Lazard, Hardman, Cobb, Gipson (or Brownlee) TE (3) - Conklin, Uzomah, Ruckert RB (4) - Hall, Carter, Knight, Abanikanda Defense DL (10) - JFM, Q, Lawson, Johnson, McDonald, Huff, Clemons, Jefferson, Woods, Thomas LB (5) - Mosely, Sherwood, Q. Williams, Kwon Alexander, Zaire Barnes CB (6) - S. Gardner, DJ Reed, M. Carter, Echols, Hardee, Guidry S (4) - Amos, Whitehead, Adams, Bernard-Converse STs (3) - Morstead, Zuerlein, Henessy PS (15) - E.J. Jenkins (TE), Yeboah (TE), Kuntz (TE), I. Charles (WR), T.J. Luther (WR), J. Kapp (WR), X. Gipson (WR), T. Dye (RB), N. Bawden (FB), T. Colon (C/OG), C. Johnson (LB), M. Hall (LB), C. Cherelus (LB), D. Langford (CB), T. Dean (S) For the PS, who knows? I basically just added all of their UDFAs, but most likely there will be a few players from other teams. I think they also like Tanzel Smart, so he could be on the PS and possibly H. Nasirildeen as well. Some of the other younger players they added to the roster this year could conceivably claim a spot on the PS over the UDFAs: Isaiah Mack, Jimmy Moreland, C. Surratt, C. James, M. Spencer, M. Waters, and B. Laing.
solid list. some of your numbers are off though (you say 6 WRs but only have 5, you say 3 TEs but have 4 etc) Steveler as a 3rd doesn't seem realistic to me for some reason. I have a feeling we'll have a different 3rd or only carry 2 QBs I could see only 3 RBs (knight on the PS) and taking a 6th WR
I agree if they only keep 2 QBs, which they probably will, but they could keep 3, and Boyles is useless.
You know you’ve got 54, right? Offense QB (3) - Rodgers, Boyle, Wilson OL (10) - Brown, Tomlinson, Tippman, AVT, Turner, Colon, Mitchell, Schweitzer, Warren, McGovern WR (5) - G. Wilson, C. Davis, Lazard, Hardman, Cobb TE (4) - Conklin, Uzomah, Ruckert, Kuntz RB (5) - Hall, Carter, Knight, Abanikanda, Bawden Defense DL (9) - JFM, Q, Lawson, Johnson, McDonald, Huff, Clemons, Jefferson, Woods LB (4) - Mosely, Sherwood, Q. Williams, Zaire Barnes CB (6) - S. Gardner, DJ Reed, M. Carter, Echols, Hardee, Guidry S (4) - Amos, Whitehead, Adams, Bernard-Converse STs (3) - Morstead, Zuerlein, Henessy
Acually, I had 53. I miscounted on the OL and had 10 instead of 9, but I also miscounted on the WRs and only had 5 instead of 6. I'll fix that. Thanks! I'll be totally surprised if Boyle makes the roster. He's awful. The only thing he brings is knowledge of and experience in the offensive scheme. I also see no way that Becton isn't on the team and starting and no way that McGovern makes the team. I don't think Bawden makes it either. I like that you have Thomas not making the final 53.
You also miscounted TEs…. You’re at 54 In ARs 2020 MVP season (which we seem to be trying to recreate) QB 2 was Boyle, WR 2 was Lazard and RT was Turner. I’m not advocating for trading Becton but I can see a world where the starters don’t include him and JD flips him for some draft capital. JD hates McGovern but he’s a damn good backup C for a very low cost. Can’t wait
Damn! LOL Thanks! Getting sloppy in my old age. I don't doubt your word that Boyle was QB 2 in 2020, but his NFL stats are not good. Hopefully, Hackett and Saleh aren't superstitious. I see no world where Becton (if healthy) isn't starting at either LT or RT for the Jets. I think Schweitzer may be better, but if McGovern is the backup so be it. If so, hopefully, he never sees the field.
seems like a good time to make predictions now thats cut down day is tomorrow Offense (27) (3) QB Rodgers, Wilson, Boyle (6) WR Wilson, Lazard, hardman, Cobb, Gipson, Taylor (4) RB Hall, Cook, MC, Izzy (4) TE CJ, Conklin, Ruckert, Kuntz (5) OT Becton, Brown, Mitchell, Warren, Turner (5) IOL Mcgovern, AVT, Tomlinson, Tippman, Schwietzer Defense (23) (5) DE JFM, Lawson, JJ, Huff, WMD (4) DT Clemons, Q, Thomas, Woods (4) LB CJ, Q, Sherwood, Barnes (6) CB Sauce, Reed, MC2, Echols, Hall, Hardee (4) S Whitehead, Amos, Davis, JBC Special (3) K Greg the Leg P Morestead LS Hennessey I'm probably wrong as I can see going with 5 WR and/or 3 TEs to make room for more defenders. Maybe (s) adams and DT Jefferson in place of taylor and kuntz or turner. 10 o-line is a lot (11 if you count hennessey) but with the injury question marks it's possible. We could also cut doyle to make room for more defense.
we'll probably drop boyle and turner if I had to guess then. kuntz could be cut and put on the PS but since we did draft him in the 7th I'd think they want to protect him. not really sure who else could go. The other thing is we will have some leeway since echols is out the 1st 6 games which makes room for adams and Izzy could start on the Pup list. Taylor could be cut but I think rodgers likes him based on what I seen on hard knocks.
I don’t think anyone else would pickup that Kuntz seeing that they had 7 rounds to draft him and didn’t. Gotta take that risk tho when we have a ton of other good TEs and need the roster spot. Sorry to that Kuntz
Following was my final roster prediction. I know that I'll be wrong about Bawden, but just don't want to type his name and waste a roster spot, which I think the Jets will be doing. Here's my stab at the 53-man roster. Offense (25) QB (2) - Rodgers and Wilson RB (4) - Hall, Cook, Carter, Abanikanda WR (6) - Wilson, Lazard, Cobb, Hardman, Gipson, Brownlee TE (4) - Conklin, Uzomah, Ruckert, Yeboah OL (9) - Brown, Tomlinson, McGovern, AVT, Becton, Tippman, Schweitzer, Mitchell, Turner Defense (25) DE (6) - Lawson, JFM, JJ, McDonald, Clemons, Huff DT (4) - Q, Jefferson, Woods, Thomas LB (5) - Mosely, Q. Williams, Sherwood, Barnes, Surratt CB (6) - Gardner, Reed, Carter, Echols, Hardee, Moreland, S (5) - Adams, Whitehead, Amos, Davis, Dean* STs (3) LS - Hennessy K - Zuerline P - Morstead IR - (2) Carter Warren and Bernard-Converse* (Since Carter is injured and hasn't practiced recently, I think the Jets put him on short-term IR and see how Turner does. If Turner hasn't shown any improvement, they might cut Turner and replace him with Warren, or they could put Warren on IR for the remainder of the season since this was supposed to be a redshirt year for him anyway, and just allow him to spend the season getting healthy and getting stronger. The only other thing that they could do that would make sense to me, would be to cut Brownlee and try to get him onto the PS, and keep Warren on the roster. * Since Echols is suspended for week 1, he won't be on the official roster week 1, so they can keep Dean, Davis and Bernard-Converse on the roster week 1. At the end of that week, they will have to make a move to clear a spot for Echols. I'm most curious to see what they do with Jarrick Bernard-Converse. He was injured all of TC, and they must have just activated him, if he was practicing last week. That means he can't go on the PUP Reserve list. So, their only options are to just cut him and try to put him on the PS, place him on IR, or keep him on the roster. I think they like him a lot, and think he could possibly save a roster spot in the future since he can play both CB and S. For now, I think they keep him, although they probably could try to sneak him onto the PS since he has never practiced with the team or they could put him on IR. Unless they are content to let his rookie season be a total waste, I think they would have to put him on the short-term IR, but would he really be of any help this season? Dean deserves to make the roster, and most likely won't make the PS. Dean could contribute this season, either on STs or on D. What are your thoughts on what they should do to create a spot for Echols following the 1st game? Would you put Bernard- Converse on short-term IR, risk another team claiming him by trying to put him on the PS? The Jets will probably keep Davis. I'll be shocked if they don't. They may think that Davis will help them more this year than Dean will with his STs ability. I think most Jets fans would say, "Cut Davis NOW!" Personally, I would keep Dean, and either cut Davis and try to put him on the PS, or put JBC on short-term IR, then make a decision what to do with him once he's eligible to come off IR. Just for the heck of it, I'm gonna take a stab at the PS spots too. PS (16) Nick Bawden (FB) Travis Dye (RB) Tim Boyle (QB) Deslin Alexandre (DE) Jalyn Holmes (DE)** Tanzel Smart (DT)** Bruce Hecton (DT)** Trystan Colon (OG/C)** Alex Erickson (WR/PR)** Malik Taylor (WR)** Zach Kuntz (TE)** DJ Jenkins (TE) Caleb Johnson (LB) Claudin Cherelus (LB) Jerome Kapp (WR) Marquis Waters (S) I'm guessing that these are the 16 players that the Jets would like to keep on the PS. The problem is that I would be shocked if Holmes, Smart, Hector and Colon clear waivers and make the PS. Heck, even Taylor, Kuntz and Erickson might not make it, either. I think that they would like to keep both Dean and Bernard-Converse too and probably won't be able to on the roster, so would try to put hem on the PS. Neither may make it, or JBC might since he hasn't practiced. As to whom would go to make room for Dean and JBC, if all 16 players above make it to the PS, I'm guessing that it would be two of Caleb Johnson, Marquis Waters, Jerome Kapp, and Claudin Cherelus.
made some adjustments. Put warren on IR for the year which could be possible due to him being banged up and us having 9 other o-lineman. It's a risk though since brown is 39 and becton hasn't played in 2 years due to his knee Also went with 2 QBs, this made room for 2 more players on D and balanced it out. Offense (25) (2) QB Rodgers, Wilson, (6) WR Wilson, Lazard, hardman, Cobb, Gipson, Taylor (4) RB Hall, Cook, MC, Izzy (4) TE CJ, Conklin, Ruckert, Kuntz (4) OT Becton, Brown, Mitchell, Turner, (IR) Warren (5) IOL Mcgovern, AVT, Tomlinson, Tippman, Schwietzer Defense (25) (5) DE JFM, Lawson, JJ, Huff, WMD (5) DT Clemons, Q, Thomas, Woods, Jefferson (4) LB CJ, Q, Sherwood, Barnes (6) CB Sauce, Reed, MC2, Echols, Hall, Hardee (5) S Whitehead, Amos, Davis, JBC, Adams Special (3) K Greg the Leg P Morestead LS Hennessey
