I am going to go on the assumption that Woody is going to make a real push to make our own superbowl, and thus, we will try to fix needs within free agency and the draft. I understand our cap implications, and will attempt to address those as well. I really do like this. I don't want Revis traded, but if we know now we won't be able to resign him, might as well trade him for a force on our oline. In particular I like the Barwin signing. That would go a long way in making our defense capable and not forcing us to go olb early if it's not there in the draft. Campbell vs Glennon would be a very interesting competition. I would love to see that. I also wonder though... Is a first really all we could get for Revis? Another second and fourth would be huge. Pick up someone like Zach Ertz in the second?
I like it only concern I have is I've read it's likely the texans will franchise Connor Barwin if he can't be resigned
I think we should trade Harris for a second or so and get Rolando McClain if released by the Raiders.
I think its alright. Like the first three picks, but I think the 3rd is way to early for lattimore. He wasn't even a surefire 1st round pick at his best in this season... add in that horrible injury? and I have a hard time envisioning a team picking him earlier than the 4th. I would rather a fully healthy Leveon Bell, Eddie Lacy, Stepfan Taylor or Jawan Jamison in the 3rd than a player with two surgically repaired knees. I also think we could get more for Revis- maybe the 1st and a 3rd and a conditional pick next year. i think resigning Bell and Devito to small contracts if possible would be smart. Not sure if Barwin would come that cheap because of the premium put on passrushers, but he would be a solid addition for the right price. Really like Mike Glennon in the 2nd and Vernon and Dyer would be nice pick ups as well.
lol revis is worth a little bit more than a first round prospect don't ya think? minus that, you put a lot of work into this so thats admirable. its something i'd definitely like
A lot of thought went into this; good job figuring out all of the contracts, etc. In not sure I love how many people we let go and I hate the Revis trade, but this is an interesting scenario.
We can definitely get a 1st and 3rd for Revis and i don't like having Cambell as a our starter. Good stuff tho.
Landry wants a lot more than that and has indicated no hometown discount. Not crazy about QB but like my mock off season, I don't see an answer this year. I don't want to do it but like you I see Revis as best way to get something. Not sure you could get a one this year unless he agrees to a contract. If he does, I think you could get some future picks also.
Can someone give a reasonable explanation why Revis, who remind you is coming off of a season ending ACL surgery, is worth more than a first round pick? We rank #2 currently in pass defense without him. The Jets would have very little leverage in the trade. Everyone says he is worth more than just a first round pick, then neglects to give a justifiable reason for their statement. I would be incredibly happy with this draft. I love Dion Jordan, he is a monster at 6'6 and makes some terrific plays. He is my favorite pass rusher in this draft. If we could get him AND Chance Warmack, that would be awesome. Two solid starters at positions of great need on the first day of the draft. Then being able to pick up potentially the best QB prospect in the draft would be great too. However, I feel as though Glennon will shoot right up the boards into the first round. Lattimore is hit or miss with the third round pick, he most likely won't be able to play next year, but he could be the back of the future if he gets back on track. Travis Kelce is a huge target down field and also showcased his speed in the bowl game against Duke on an 83 yard touchdown. Blidi Wreh Wilson is a very experienced CB on a stout Uconn defense. He started over 30 games and was a difference maker on the field. He intercepted Teddy Bridgewater in the endzone in overtime to help uconn secure a win over ranked Louisville. All in all, I would be incredibly happy with this offseason.
Obviously, if we could get an additional 2nd and 4th, we would be in great shape for 2013. In this scenario, I would trade back into the first and pick up Tyler Eifert - TE - Notre Dame. An Alternative would be to take Alec Ogletree - ILB - Georgia. (Harris eventual replacement) I can appreciate that, but there is a ton of talent on defensive side of the ball. I can see them letting him walk with Cushing, Watt, Reed still on the roster, and pay days coming. Not to mention they just resigned Schaub, and Foster. If we couldn't sign him though, I would look at Anthony Spencer, since they play the position of 3-4 OLB. However, there are a lot of exciting players that could help, and most intriguing would be Cliff Avril, who will be let go. Trading Revis is our best chance of filling needs, not having the luxury of Revis and Cro. I am assuming just a single pick, but if we could get multiple picks, What would you say? I have no problem with picking up Bell in that position. My understanding was that he was a top 15 pick, and I couldn't pass up on the value. Running backs are a dime a dozen, but I really want a Lynch Mold, so Bell would be my second choice. If we could get an additional third for Revis, I would probably address center sooner. Preferably a center that could also function as a back up guard. Thanks for the recognition. I have about 1 and half invested in this. Assume we picked up an additional 1st next year if that helps. Thanks. I think trading Revis is the best way to improve our team in multiple areas. Most evident is the draft choice, but we would be able to sign any free agents if we keep him. If you can think of any other free agent that could start, please let me know. I also addressed the scenario if we were to pick up a 3rd above in this post. His injury concerns are going to prevent everyone from giving him top tier safety money. Landry is a must for this defense though, and we could invest a bit more if needed. An alternative would be to let him walk, and draft Eric Reid some how. Thanks! I also agree with Glennon, and believe we would have a hard time drafting him at #11 come April. However, right now he is a 2nd round prospect.
Overall I am definitely a fan of the majority of the moves here, specifically relieving ourselves of all the dead weight (Greene and Keller included) and addressing the o-line and pass-rush through FA and the draft. I would only pray we could somehow trade Cromartie instead of Revis. Sad to see how many on this forum have resigned to the fact that we must trade our best player in order to be competitive.
I think is more that we won't be able to sign him in 2014, and now is the only opportunity to ensure that we gain additional assets in 2014. If we could sign Revis long term, and trade Cromartie, so be it.
I like the effort, but this loses any realism the second we get anything more then a conditional 7th for Sanchez. Furthermore in a draft where the QB class looks worse and worse every day, there's no way Glennon falls to our pick in the 2nd. He will be a first row pick come April due to some team getting desperate, seeing a mediocre class and talking themselves into him.
