Anything is better than Theismann. One of the worst announcers in the history of the universe, and yet he somehow managed to announce so many primetime games for ESPN and the NFL Network.
Not to be a dick, but I think Mayocks lisp may have cost him the job least year. Clearly he's better than either of those guys. Millen and Theisman are unbearable- great change.
Millen couldn't manage a team and everyone knew this. Then they throw him in the booth and all a person could do was wonder why.
I used to love after the MNF game when Steve Young would look at Millen at some point on the dais after the game was over and shoot him that "the fuck?" look. It would happen at least once every Monday night.
Mayock is my boy. Not just for his analysis. His passion for this game supersedes most people in football. He loves this game and he's amazing if you ever catch him on NBC for college football or Vikings preseason. In about 3 years, NFL Network will change their name to The Mike Mayock Channel.
I thought Millen was great as an in game color commentator. It was when he started giving opinions and more big picture analysis that he became obnoxious, and Steve Young's bitch. Theisman should have been canned years ago..
im a HUGE fan of Mayock. been on his bandwaggon since he first touched down on NFLN. very very rarely have i ever heard anything leave his mouth that i wouldnt co-sign 100 percent. lol they used to have Rich Eisen chained to the desk. all it did was make his hair dissappear faster. theyve slowly been giving more face time to more guys and Mayock is the man. lol i obviously didnt read so is Mayock going to be an analyst on MNF? if so thats a major victory for students of the game and even lamen who wont be poisoned by theismann and millen anymore
Yes, Mayock is stepping into the analyst role Theismann and Millen were supposed to be filling. A misnomer, since I've never known Theismann to be able to analyze anything whatsoever.
