http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/qb/barricknealy.html Nealy was the starting QB for Houston until he suffered a knee injury and transfered to 1AA Texas State. He became a star there, and last year he passed for 2875 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also ran for 1057 yards and 13 touchdowns. Granted he was beating up on inferior opponents, but he was good enough to be recruited by a Division I school and start for them as a sophomore. The highlight of Nealy's '05 campaign was a game vs. Texas A&M, in which he proved that he could play against tougher talent by putting up 378 yards and 4 touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing), completing 26 of 34 passes. He has a gun for an arm and is clearly an athletic talent. He does need a lot of refining but considering that he may not even be drafted he seems to me to be a potential late round guy who could develop into a star.
Agreed. I watched a few of his games in the 1AA playoffs and he has a lot of raw talent. If we can work on that he could be a starter someday. From what I saw he's got a strong arm and legs but lacks passing accuracy and mechanics. Sort of like a very poor man's Vince Young... and we could take him under our wing as the 3rd or 4th (in that case he'll be PS) QB, groom him, and see if he can start 2 or 3 years down the road.
