Someone over at our board who supposedly had "insider" information about a possible trade between the Texans and Jets which would involve us sending you guys Domanick Davis straight up for Dewayne Robertson. Just wondering if you guys have heard anything about this.
Davis coming off arthroscopic knee surgery and Robertson supossely with his degenerative knee problems..I lean towards Davis... save some money in the process salary Davis 2006 1,700,000.00 2007 3,340,000.00 2008 4,180,000.00 2009 4,550,000.00 salary DROB 2006 4,669,994.00 2007 2,475,000.00 2008 6,800,000.00 2009 4,500,000.00
Why would the Texans want D-Rob they have some pretty good DT in Robaire Smith and Travis Johnson. Seems a bit redundant. Davis is not the answer for us at RB but he does have a pretty tolerable salary compared to Robertson.
Because he's young and talented and would probably fit their new system. Solid depth in the middle is underrated, and I'd take DRob over both Smith and Johnson any day.
drob is coming out of his shell and should establish himself as a solid starter after this season... i'd rather keep him and draft addai
I'm a D-Rob fan, and in the right system I think he'll be a productive tackle, but he doesn't fit into the 3-4 with the Jets. If this deal was ever on the table, and the team could use him to grab a young and productive back like Davis, it's a no-brainer. However, I have to seriously doubt that this is going to happen.
Pretty sure that both teams would be decimated by the cap penalties without some really smooth moves from each Front Office.
Texans are not trading Davis. They need somebody to split the load with Reggie Bush. I think Bush is a great talent but the one thing he apparently is not capable of is carrying the workhorse load. If for some reason Charlie Casserly really wanted to plan his own early retirement by drafting Bush and signing him to a 28-30 million guarantee and not having a backup plan around in the event he blew out then yeah I would take Davis for D-Rob without thinking about it for too long. He's a younger version of Travis Henry without the injuries and a damn good back.
I really figured this would be something about us trading up for the #1 pick so I am pleasantly surprised its something different. On that note, I would trade D-Rob in a heartbeat for Davis
While you are correct about needing a RB to split the load, Davis would be making a ton of money for a 2nd RB, especially when you're paying Bush. They also felt highly enough about Vernon Morency to use a 2nd rounder on him.
