As I read through multiple mock drafts to see what areas different teams go in and who the Jets select at 29 there's a scenario that I see happening in some and wondering what you'd do if you were the Jets. Lets say the Jets are up with Pick #29 and our guy Odrick is on the board to select. BUT Also Jimmy Clausen is there as well and multiple teams like the Browns, Raiders, Bills, Panthers and Broncos are offering us tempting deals to trade down. What do we do? Take our guy to complete the D or Move down and take someone with less skill but add depth at various positions?
I say we take Jimmy Clausen then contact Minnesota, tell them to draft Odrick and trade him to us for Jimmy Clausen and a pick.
Would rather trade with a team like the Browns and get a early 3rd instead of with the Vikes and get a 4th or late 3rd.
Depends on the offers we are receiving. I'll trade our pick away if Odrick is on board for a 2nd and next years 1st. You want Clausen you're paying out the ass for it.
Clausen won't be there... He absolutely won't get past San Francisco and they might move pretty far up to get him... However, there's a good chance a team like Cleveland or Buffalo may want to jump ahead of Minnesota to get Colt McCoy at 29. With Minnesota picking at 30, this could be a KEY spot to a potential trade down. In this case, I would probably trade down.. But taking Jared Odrick also would be okay. IMO this is win win.
It entirely depends on the details of the trade. If we get equal value, I might pass. If somebody overpays, I'd take it.
Id be fine with a early 2nd early 3rd and 5th from the Browns not sure if theyd give up a 1st for next year see how there not a team that will have a good record and they know it. Some of the teams i mentioned could be Top 15 teams in next years draft.
I agree with you the chances of Clausen being there are slim BUT if he is there somehow or as you say a team wanting to get McCoy early instead of hope to get him Id honestly trade down, even though i LOVE LOVE LOVE Odrick. Depth just seems more valuable.
Wish Mangini was still in charge of that cuz he'd definitely trade that for Clausen. Then we'd be a lock for Cameron Heyward or Greg Romeus and our team would be complete with the exception of either a RT or LG (whichever one doesn't get taken care of this weekend.)
If Odrick is there, I'm taking him unless a team offers the house to move up. When I say the house, I mean a 2nd,3rd, and next years 1st. And that's not gonna happen, unless they forget to take Al Davis' phone away...
This is a tricky one for ya. If the Browns offer something like there 2nd and Two of their thirds preferably number 71 and 85. (They have picks 71,85,92 in the 3rd) You wouldn't take that?
Wow, what an interesting concept bro. This is definitely a situation that could happen to us on draft day. Personally I like Odrick alot but would run a Kings Ransom on the Pick to take Clausen for teams that want him. Milk out as much as we can and bring in O-line, Saftey, CB, and OLB prospects with those picks.
I Can see us Trading down for more or maybe up for one player the Staff really likes. Maybe Earl Thomas, Iupati, Dan Williams? Who knows. I also had this Crazy dream we traded Leon our 1st rounder and another pick for C.J. Spiller.
That type of trade is a pretty rare occurrence in the NFL and both teams were doing it to get a QB. I doubt Claussen will even make it to pick #15 but if Odrick is there at 29, the Jets should just take him. It'll be difficult for the Jets to convince the Vikings to trade their pick and another pick to the Jets to move up one spot for a player the Jets didn't even want, especially when McCoy and Tebow will still be on the board. The Vikings would have to hate those two to consider that trade. It's one spot, it's not worth the bullshit for either team. Just take the guy you want.
No different than the Manning/Rivers swap. And for everyone else on the board, if Odrick is your guy that's the ONLY way to go. Get Odrick and a second, or a third..
Guess I get to answer this again... It's actually very different from the Manning/Rivers swap. The Chargers needed to make sure they got a QB of the future who WANTED to play for them. There is also the fact of the massive disparity between the value of 4 to 1 vs. 30 to 29. Do you really think the Vikings will trade away a 2nd round pick to move up one spot when their first and their third gets them up to the 24th? If they're that high on Claussen, why not trade up more spots to a position in the draft that actually justifies the 2nd round pick they would give up? We're not even sure how high the Vikes are on Claussen. Childress has the same hard on for mobile QBs that he did in Philly when he worked with McNabb and in his first years in Minnesota where he drafted Tarvaris Jackson in the second round. Childress is probably trying to figure out a way to trade back to get Tebow and an extra pick. Also, thank you for reading the post directly above yours. It's really your attention to detail that makes you such a valuable poster.
I'd still trade down. I just don't see the difference between Odrick and Thomas/Joseph, plus you get a 3rd. To me its a no brainer. Odrick is a very nice player and I would be happy to have him but if I could trade down and pick up a third I do it no matter who is on the board, the exeption being Earl Thomas and Pouncey.
