FYI my son informed me that even if we lost last Sunday the outcome would still have been the same with Cinncy & Den going down the tubes. We still would have the 5th seed & Herm would backed in with the 6th seed

If we had lost at 1pm, who know what other kinds of crazy motivation those teams would have to " just win and we are in". If the Jets lost and the final score whet up on their jumbotron, their houses would have gone absolutely crazy.

Plus if we lost to the Raiders, 90% of us in here would have committed suicide so the playoff wouldnt matter.

Yes that is what Shanny thought & told his team to root for KC to win cause he wanted to motivate them. H'mm I wonder how Shanny thinks of that decision now

A worse decision was going with a rookie QB when the team was something like 7-4. Glad we didn't try something that dumb.

It's not backing in if you win.. They didn't back in.

I've tried telling people that too, but they refuse to listen. "Backed in to the playoffs" is one of the most overused, least understood terms in the NFL.

    You forgot most meaningless.

Wins in week 1 count as much as wins in week 17. I know, I know, "you can't play with the season on the line..." My argument is the season is on the line EACH AND EVERY WEEK in the NFL. That's what makes football m uch more enjoyable than Baseball..w hich seems to have meaningless games (they aren't, same argument, but there are so many they appear meaningless).

In the NFL, every game can influence a tiebreaker. In baseball, there are no tiebreakers, so you can lose to the team you are battling against or against the last place team and it doesn't have the same meaning...

(for those nitpicky ones, tiebreakers are only used in baseball IF both teams are going to make the playoffs anyway.... If it's 1 in 1 out, a playoff game is played.. Obviously, you can't do that in football)

People think the Chiefs backed in as well. These certain people just don't understand.

I hate Shannahan but I can't blame him too much for that call... Plummer was friggin brutal and probably wouldn't have fared much better...

Plummer was really stinkin the joint up. IMO, if Cutler didn't get that concussion in Denver's last game, they would have won. He just wasn't right after that hit. Plummer had his chance in that game... and blew it again by sucking a wild hind root.
