Take this as you will, because this is not my source. But according to guys at NFLDC, local radios are saying that the Raiders are looking to trade Jerry Porter and the Jets and Saints were mentioned as suitors. If you all don't remember roughly a year ago, Porter said the Jets is the only team in a cold weathered area he'd go to if the Raiders didn't resign him (per IGN last year). It may be out of reach, but it's something to keep in mind. I won't link the thread unless Petro or a mod gives me permission, because I'm not trying to advertise. But Porter/Coles would compliment each other very nicely. This also could be a package to move up in the draft for one of the quarterbacks or Mario Williams? We'll see.
Wonder what the going rate would be for a Jerry Porter. I love him as a receiver. One of the few Raiders that does have my respect. Think there's any way to get them to throw in Lamont too? <sigh>
Coles + Porter would definitely be a great duo. It just seems a little too "out there". We'll see, though.
Porter would be nice but I think reciever at this point is the least of the Jets worries..Plus he will be asking for a good chuck of money and I think Snyder fed up FA with his BS signings this year with Randell El.
You know, Porter just re-signed last year. I'm sure there's some big bonus money that would go against Oakland's cap by trading him?
I was a bit skeptical about posting it, but if the Raiders want to trade up for Young or Leinart, it seems logical that they trade Porter because Curry proved adequate. Again, I'm not saying this will happen, I'm just putting it out there. I'm just not sure how Oakland gets around Porters big contract.
I like Porter, but this trade makes no sense for the Raiders. Porter signed last yr. I think it was a 7 mil signing bonus. If they trade him it might be a 5 mil cap hit for the Raiders. But I said the same thing last yr when the Deadskins took a 9.2 mil cap hit for trading Coles. But what draft pick will it take to get Porter? It will probably be a #2 and I think we have more pressing needs.
It'd probably be in a deal to trade up in the draft, from what I've gathered. And actually a knowledgeable Raider fan over there (nin) said it seems reasonable because they have Curry, Moss as their number one and Gabriel who is said to be better than Porter. Remember this also.. Nothing is out of the question with Al Davis.
i don't think Porter is worth a first-rounder at all...maybe a second rounder....but i still don't think he is a #1 receiever...a definite upgrade over what we have...and would pair nicely with Coles....but still not a #1
I probably went high on that pick but when was the last time the Raiders traded a player for a pick? Al Davis will keep him with that bonus.... he will be only 3 mil to keep and 5.5 mil to trade so this crap wont happen
