We got three 1st rounders and one 2nd rounder after we dealt Sauce and Quinnen. In 2026 we have two 1st and two 2nd round picks. In 2027 we have three 1st round picks. Considering we are in tank mode, how would you grade today's trades?
These are great trades in terms of getting good draft compensation and ridding salaries. Potential needs to be turned into "actual" though, with effective drafting. I
Franchise-changing drafts on the horizon, we have to nail these or it is another 10 year slump. Time to trade for a real scouting network
Fire Glenn and I will change my vote, no faith in this staff whatsoever. Picks are great but if the HC is awful they don't mean anything.
I hear you. But try to think of this outside Glenn. He has next 2 years to show his worth. If he sucks, he will go and as long as Mougey hits on the picks, we will still be in better shape than we would have been if we have kept Sauce and Quinnen. In terms of value, this was a great day.
A+. That's insanely good. GM of the year candidate worthy. It's a exciting time. There's light at the end of the tunnel. The offense this season has been at times unwatchable, dreadful, pure torture BUT you look at some of the parts the Jets have Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, the young OL they have a good YOUNG offensive core in place. All they need is the QB by all accounts they should be able to find one in the 2026 NFL Draft. Do they re-sign Breece & Tucker? I hate losing Sauce & Quinnen but they weren't making the impact this season. Incredible value for 2 players that weren't playing up to their usual standard.
This is exactly where I'm at. Mougey is Glenn's "sidekick", according to the introductory press conference. If I don't have any faith in Glenn to coach the team, then I certainly don't have any faith that he'll pick the right players with these three first rounders that he has acquired.
I really liked the Sauce trade. The compensation was great. I’m not happy moving Q. If anything I thought that they should have gotten the first rounder in 2026.
I love the trades, it’s not like jets were better with these players, in particular the contracts they had. I believe this was done for financial reasons more than anything else. The ability to reset with good young players on their first contracts is going to help them moving forward. We still need a QB if we want to be a winning team.
You may be right in terms of value, you may also be wrong. Picks are an enigma if they don't hit. If they don't hit the "value" was horrendous and with this staff they more likely than not won't.
You can’t put a grade on this until every single pick is realized. You traded away two fantastic players, the only way to know if it’s a good trade if you get two or more fantastic players out of the picks you acquired. I don’t want to hear shit about Potential, we’ve been a laughing stock for over a decade, potential doesn’t mean shit.
I’m not really sure how to vote… I hate the fire sale, and I fully believe that you don’t get better by trading away good/great young players. Both guys are All Pro capable, and the fact that they have been underperforming to me is due more to coaching than to their talent. So I hated to lose two young studs. I love the return obviously its hard to argue with the haul of picks we got So in terms of value, I’d have to say A But in terms of team building strategy and all of the implications this means, I say F. This buys AG at LEAST next year. This also means that Mougey HAS to hit on most of these picks because he traded away prime assets that really should have been the foundation for the rebuild…all he did was create more holes. We’ll see how it turns out, but honestly I am not happy gutting the team yet again.
In a seller's market, the Jets were big players. They cashed in big time! Surprising, but great moves.
Not that the pundits matter, but we’re getting pretty good reviews in the media. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...stockpile-for-overhaul-colts-cowboys-overpay/ https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46201721/2025-nfl-trade-grades-deadline-latest-best-worst-deals
They need to get real scouts in here asap if they still have some of those legacy schmo's in-house. This is the Jets very rare chance to get out of the gutter and build the future foundation of this team. They must nail these picks by landing a franchise QB and stud lineman on both sides of the ball along with a franchise WR.
Q asked to be traded 3 times. He didn't want to be here. I don't get the group around here that refuses to acknowledge that players are not robots and can choose to go somewhere else even if it's less money (gasp). We still have players on our team that don't want to be here, which nobody can blame them for. The stink ran deep, all the way down to Q. Who was shocked he didn't want to be here anymore?
I didn't want to trade these two guys, but this was too good to pass up. Especially the package for Q was incredible. We were just debating before that Q will probably yield only a second round pick, and we don't want to trade him for a second. Mooge not only got the second, but a 1st ON TOP of it. And that 1st in 2027 is a better one of GB and Dallas. Q is a good player, but in the past couple of years he has not pressured QB much. Especially this year. Great run defender, but only one sack and really not too much pressure on QBs even though we faced some weak and injured O lines.. Granted he does get double teamed, etc, but still to get this kind of return for a DL who is not a true QB pressure guy is really good. Sauce I really liked, but the reality is, he hasn't played the way he did his 1st two years. He also got concussed again this year, just like he did last, and was evaluated for concussion another time. That is not a major concern at the moment (though it quickly could become one if it happens again) but based on performance and also the fact AZ Thomas looked pretty good, two 1st round picks plus AD Mitchell is massive haul that is too good to pass up given the situation we are in. The reality is we are a 1-7 team, which is not going anywhere this year. If the plan in the beginning of the year was to win now and try to fight for a play-off spot, that's certainly not the plan now. Also, our defense has not been good. We are #27 scoring defense, allowing 27.6 ppg, Let's remember this and see where we will end up. These two guys are very good, but they have not been elite, at least not with this coach. Otherwise we would not be #27. Yes, we need to use the picks wisely, and we also have a lot more money for FAs, which we need to be smart about, but so far Mooge has hit pretty well on top picks. Even AZ pick in the 3d round looks solid. This is not a penny on the dollar trade, we got a major haul for these two guys, and we are 1-7 with them, not making play-offs anyway. We got the offers we couldn't refuse, it's as simple as that. I think Mooge did well here, given the circumstances.
I can’t give it an A without knowing how Mougey will use the picks, but it was the right thing to do, so it’s a B for now. That said, I have no idea why Breece is still a Jet.
