I'm going with the 3rd and 2 in OT. Why? crunch time. 3rd down. all the pressure in the world. he placed it in the perfect spot, at the perfect angle. and it showed that his confidence in himself is stronger than other QBs this organization has destroyed. And the confidence is due to his consciousness of his talent and skills. Those other throws conveyed that our QB has a ceiling that's about as high as any QB in the NFL. And if you heard the post game interview, you learned that: he's consciously competent. his field awareness is beyond his years. and his mastery of how to act on his awareness is incredible. he's humble. he's focused on learning and growing. which means the odds of him realizing that potential is high. My Pennington jersey is getting retired for a Wilson jersey!
I mean obviously it is the 53 yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis, but he had a few beauties on Sunday. Great to see!
Difficulty wise the bomb to Cole was the hardest throw. He was clocked at moving over 14mph when he released the ball. Excitement wise it was the TD to Davis. The oh crap oh yeah moment was the fumble then pass to Crowder. The completely missing from the boxscore was the 40 yard PI to Davis. But the best throw was the one to Cole in OT. 3rd and 2 the game on the line. If he misses the throw we lose. He reads the corner and makes a throw few QBs could make. Really clutch. Hard to believe a Jet QB made such a clutch timely throw. But over the long term the throw I want to see him make the most are the routine throws. The 3rd and 10 to Davis that would have won the game. If he is going to be great he needs to be great at the routine plays first. I like how the 1st thing he said was to acknowledge the mistakes he made not the big plays. He knows where he needs to improve.
Rumor has it that the Jets will be looking to replace Zach with another qb in the upcoming draft. This info was blue-checked by a well known punchbowl turd... so there is some veracity to this stupidity. The other SamFans are remaining quiet until Wilson throws his next interception...
lol. I was a Sam fan. Felt that he could win it all with the right coach, OL, skill players and defense. I still am a Sam fan. I was adamant against trading Sam and starting over. I stopped questioning the decision after (1) seeing him move Green Bay's LB and S with his eyes, and (2) his humility and neural network processing. Zach's ability, aptitude and attitude give him a HOF ceiling. I have never been so happy to believe I was wrong.
It's the 3rd and 2 in OT for me. For a guy making his 4th NFL start to have the composure to hit that throw, unreal.
The TD bomb was obviously a great throw, but the OT 3rd and 2 was something very special. On the coach's film available on Gamepass you get a better view of how ridiculously accurate it was. Great touch, great courage to pull the trigger, and great accuracy.
The ot throw to Cole is not a throw every qb in the league makes. That’s an elite throw and should get more publicity.
The TD bomb was impressive not only for his accuracy but more for his vision and reading of the play as it developed. He's rolled out seen the safety come up and knows there's no-one deep. He sends the receiver downtown pointing at him do do so. Then hits a pinpoint 50 yards + throw whilst on the move. Then the OT throw was better than that. The kid's legitimate. No doubt. One game maybe but we have some upside here.
Yes the OT pass to Cole was the most impressive as to the angle and perfect spot. Not a lot of QBs make that throw. The 53 yard TD was probably the most exciting ….the 54 yard non TD really showed off his arm strength - that ball went nearly 60 yards right on target.
I don't think there's a wrong answer to this poll except maybe "a boring throw." Initially, I voted for the TD to Davis because Zach was on the move, a rusher was closing in on him, but he motioned Davis to go deep, like backyard ball, and then placed the ball perfectly. I changed my vote when I saw that no one had voted for the the throw to Crowder following fumbling the snap. Talk about composure. IMO that took more composure than the 3rd and 2 throw in OT. He didn't panic, he calmly grabbed the ball, had the presence of mind to remember that Crowder had leverage, and immediately looked for Crowder. What makes that more impressive is that he knew before the snap where he was going because of the D alignment (CB). It wasn't as accurate as the 3rd and 2 throw or the TD to Davis, but spoke volumes to me of Zach's poise and mental processing/ability to read Ds and make great decisions. The 3rd and 2 throw was the most accurate, and most difficult, but looked the most routine.
Dime to Cole in OT. But it's nice to have to think about it & have 4 legitimate throws to choose from. The long pass to Cole should have been a TD had Cole kept his feet under him. I got my jersey before the season started. That shows how confident I feel about #2. You could see on Saleh's face last week during his press conference he has faith in Zach. He told the press "you will see when he turns it on just how good this kid really is....we see it every day in practice". I think they should do more role outs. Give the OL credit they pass protected well, which is the key to it all. Keep Zach upright & he will work his magic. If I was Joe on draft day, I would be sending our first two picks in for the 2 best OL men on the board, no FA...to costly. Use our Cap space to sign Foly & JFM. Next year, '23, we have Q to sign. I hope JD doesn't play low ball with them.
The completion after the fumbled snap made me feel really good about Wilson--we haven't had that kind of keeping your shit together QB in a loooooooooooong time.
Wilson's ability to read the defense and recognize the Titans weren't prepared for the snap enabling him to loft a perfect sideline dime to Cole was hugely impressive. How many times I've heard of Tom Brady's "Mastery" of reading coverages. Our rookie quarterback is pretty slick at that art too.
I disagree with the bold. Cole was running full out, and the ball was tailing away from him, slightly underthrown and dropping like a rock. He had to go lower to catch it, which caused him to stumble. I think he made a great catch. The DB was probably obscuring his view of the ball somewhat as well, and may not have seen it until the ball dropped over the DB. It was amazing that Zach can throw it that far off platform, but it wasn't the most accurate throw. I agree that Foly, JFM and Q need to be re-signed/extended, and that we should draft two OL, as FA OL are too expensive if they're topflight. I don't think using our first two picks on OL is the way to go, however. That would be four 1st round picks on the OL, and there's no way they'll be able to stay together for long, especially once it's time for Zach, Hall, Huff, and Moore to get paid. I think he should use one of our 1st round picks on a C, and our RG should be taken either in the 2nd or 3rd round.
When he threw that ball, I don't think anybody knew his intention. Even the crowd didn't cheer until the ball dropped perfectly into the hands of the receiver. It was a beautiful pass.
