With all the new momentum, excitement and additions heading into this season--I was curious to see who you guys think going into this season is representative of our team?

    Jet up!!!

Right now, Jamal Adams. But hopefully by the end of the season, Sam Darnold.

I agree with this sentiment! Hopefully he really comes into his own this year...not only stats wise but also takes over as a leader of the offense.

I voted for Adam Gase. I believe that's who casual NFL fans / fans of other teams think of when they hear "NY Jets" now or going forward

Why should he be on the list? I smell an agenda in your post.

I wanted to highlight the most prominent figures on the team--personally I think you could group guys like Leo, Kalil, Mcclendon Beachum) in another tier, but if Leo comes on strong this year he would be in the running.

it's always the QB unless the QB is awful. adams is the heart of the defense though and the locker room leader

Brian Dawkins was the leader of the Eagles despite having McNabb.

I think that right now it's still Adams, but Sam is coming on strong. If he has a great season and becomes a top 5 QB in the league, he could overtake Adams, but as long as Adams plays great, remains humble, and is a leader, Pro Bowler or All Pro, he will remain one of the most prominent faces/players on the Jets, especially with the way he has recruited FAs to sign here.

I would say there are exceptions to this rule--

A great example would be both of the Ravens championship teams: I would say Trent Dilfer and Joe Flacco were rock solid but not the faces of the franchise. Guys like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Jamal Lewis, Ogden carried those teams.

    Just my opinion

Like your new avatar. I'm so excited about our future with Douglas as GM, I think I'll find a picture of him as well to use as my avatar. If Sam develops as expected, I really think that we have an excellent chance of winning a Lombardi Trophy or two within the next 5 years.

the question was who is the face of the jets. not who is the leader. the QB is always the face unless they QB is bad and someone else is really good. for example ray lewis was the face of the ravens for quite some time. Mcnabb was the face of the eagles. hell most "casual fans" wouldn't even know who dawkins is or jamaal adams. QBs get all the glory and attention outside of a few rare cases.

ray lewis was the 1 example i gave above but yes. becuase their QB was shit, and lewis was a bonefide HOFer and they were famous for their defene, he was 1 of the rare cases where it wasn't the QB. I think when eli retires after this season, barkley could be the face of that team. but for the jets, it's clearly darnold.

Face, leader, doesn't matter, Dawkins was both. McNabb was not the face of the Eagles. Fans couldn't even stand him. They hate him now. Dawkins was a household name, a causal fan would easily know who Dawkins was. WeaponX, etc. He was everything to them.

I look at Adams the same way.

I voted for Adams as of right now. But as Sam being a QB all he really has to do is have a decent season and he naturally takes on that role. For defensive guy to be a face of the franchise, you really have to be special player wich of course Jamal is fully capable of becoming. If that were the case, then our franchise is in good hands. Maybe we then have one from both sides of the ball, just like two headcoaches :D
