It's offseason, and there is little new news to discuss. but whether or not it is offseason or not, I liked seeing articles posted in the Jets Forum where we could discuss and debate the topic of the article. I look in the Newswire section, and there are like one or two posters there.'

When other people visit the site, dividing up all of our posters all over the place makes it so that only 12 people are in a section.

I personally want the news brought back to the main forum. I see the same threads there that are stale, and allowing people to post the news articles creates fresh up to date content and opinions.

Petrozza, please take consideration to this poll.

I was just recently thinking about this, and I don't think it would be a bad idea. There hasn't been a new thread on there in awhile, and there are quite a few news articles in the Main Jets Forum that were never moved.

    The problem here is two-fold:

    1) A lot of members are reluctant to shuffle through an extra forum. When I did research on this, most people said they wouldn't be against an extra forum. I was never a proponent of the first use of the newswire, although once I heard about it, it didn't sound like a bad idea. It hasn't been used to its intention.

    2) And with that, we as Mods has been reluctant to move threads there. People complain about it, so we just want to avoid getting threads off topic.

I still we would go back to my original idea of having 2 Main Jets forums, 1 for on-field matters such as players, etc; and another forum for off-field Jets stuff, like jerseys, interviews, and stuff like that. That was my original plan, but it wasn't executed when the forum was realigned.

Iv'e been saying the Newswire forum makes everything more confusing. And the topic description adds to that even more. If all the Mods followed that description alot of topics would be moved over there. And they pretty much just deserted it. It's like the ghetto of sub forums. All the other sub forums are fine and useful, but the Newswire should go. Breaking news and news articles should just go into the main forum. The place would be perfect then.

I like MM's idea...But so many people got used to how the board has been since I guess the start of TGG, not many people wanted to have it.

I think on NYYFans it was created like that, so people easily adapted to it...

The Game Thread forum was the best idea...But people rarely go to the Newswire.

You can also miss articles in that forum, as its not used as much.
It also creates double threads sometimes

    Dino and I actually agree.

If we had 500 members viewing the Jets forum at once and posting, then it would be warranted.

But this isn't the case. We need to bring members who want to talk and read Jets together. I almost think the NFL forum should be merged too, but let's not go too far...

Not to mention that posters will post articles in both forums. Then the Mods move them or they don't move them. Then they have to merge or just close them all together and it's just a real hassle. Other than that this place is perfect.

Why not just make Newswire a subforum in the main Jets forum, the way the BS bowl is for the BS forum?

There really wouldn't be any change or point for that. I'd say it would make things worse.

The reason we made a seperate forum for the news articles was so that they wouldnt get buried under the Jets forum topics, and to reduce the clutter in that particular forum. If we make the news section a subforum of the Jets section, we can reduce navigation time, while still maintaining an element of seperation that will keep the Jets forum from getting too cluttered.

If it's possible it would be nice to have the news forum combined with the Jets one during the offseason. There aren't many new threads, good threads in the Jets forum these days and the combination of both would make it so more people respond in quality threads.

Nice thinking. Jets articles are still posted in the main Jets forum though. And as Iv'e gone over the Newswire forum there's around 3 posts a day? Would that really bury anything? No. And now it's the offseason. A Sub forum is the same thing but just over complicating the site. Although it looks like the Newswire forum will stay as is the forum description should be changed.

Totally agree with you dino. What I dont get is this "although it looks like the Newswire forum will stay" line. I understand you are not for it...but who is.

Its become a bit of a joke. When I comment in there...I rarely go back to check for responses. If nobody is using it, exactly who is in favor of keeping it. I always loved coming to the main forum and seeing an article. Some of them would get very deep in responses.

Somebody needs to take care of this. Its not working.

Petro, almost 75% think we should allow the news to be back in the main forum...can we flip it back now?
