Great day for Coles, Cotchery and the rest of the Gang Green receiving corp on Sunday. However, I still feel we are missing that big target WR... the guy to go up and grab the jump ball... the guy who overpowers smaller CBs with his size and strength. After last week's cuts around the league, there are some big target WR options available to us right now!

Some may disagree, but I would take a chance on Charles Rogers in a heartbeat. There's also free agent Calico who stands 6'4" and 220 pounds. Add to the mix a disgruntled Jerry Porter in Oakland (as that situation continues to unravel), and we have some options to consider. I would certainly consider Rogers most seriously. I feel we would have nothing to lose and that he'd come cheaper than many might think.

    Thoughts?!

  2. Im actually pretty content w/ our WR corps for this season. It could stand be upgraded next offseason w/ a potential #1 type guy..but unless Rogers comes alive..that type of player isnt really on the market.

    Coles is a solid #1.

Cotchery is proving he is a solid #2.

    McCareins still has potential.

    Brad Smith......WOW!

    Tim Dwight is servicable too.

    I like who we have.

I don't have any real issues with the wide outs we've got right now. Theres no doubt that an upgrade could be made and Deion Branch would have been nice, but that wasn't likely from the beginning. Speaking of which though, how bad of a move was that for the Pat's. Give up a SB MVP and probably your best WR for a 1st rounder from a team thats probably going to be in the playoffs again. What kind of a pick are you looking at, 25th overall? Worse? Not the best move, but I suppose you've gotta get what you can, while you can.

Yea i agree with the posts. Our Wr are pretty decent. If anything i would rather have us look for OL or CB Depth

I like who we have as well... however, Charles Rogers has way more potential than McCareins. I don't see the harm in taking a serious look at a potontial stud in Charles Rogers. This guy deserves a second chance to live up to his expectations. Nobody does well in Detroit. Maybe he was simply a victim of circumstance.

If one game is representative of the entire season, we have the best receiving core in the league. Coles, Cotch, Justin, Smith and Baker all did a marvelous job. Right now, like the others above, I'm happy with what we have and I wouldn't want to screw with the chemistry.

Actually, I saw both Cotchery & Coles go up and grab the ball.

Charles Rogers is good but he keeps breaking collarbones as if they were nothing..he's just not reliable enought to go after

i really like our receivers and tight ends, but tyrone calico, formerly of tennessee intrigues me...big guy, just very injury prone...im not saying we need to go sign him, but i'm surprised he hasnt caught on

in the draft...i dont think so buddy. in the draft (as of now) we should be lookin at a RB and depth in our secondary. i'm content w/ everything else the jets have. if u think about it we really dont have much to improve on.

Coles is a below average 1, but still a 1.
Cotchery and McCareins are mediocre 2s and fantastic 3s.
Smith and Dwight are good 4s.

If the Tennessee game is any indication, I'm underrating our WRs even there. We don't need to claim guys who have proven that they suck.

If we sign one of the FAs, I don't know who we displace. Right now, we have:

Coles - If Pennington is the QB, he's a real solid #1.
Cotchery - Played pretty darn well on Sunday. Proving me wrong about being a #2
McCareins - Fighting for his job, which is good for our team
Smith - You have to keep him active for the gadgets, not to mention he's a good player
Dwight - Chrebet with a little speed.

Where does one of those guys you suggest fall in? Rogers CAN BE a #1 in this league if his head is on right. I can still picture those catches he made in my mind at Michigan St, along with his first yr before breaking his collarbone. He was playing for his hometown team, and sometimes that's not a good thing when you're 22 and rich.

However, who would I displace to sign him and take a chance? Rumor has it his agents are asking for a lot too....

what a difference one game makes....i'm sure there were folks that thought our wr core was a weak spot not to long ago....

We don't need another big target. Coles and Dwight are the only guys under 6 feet, the days of '6 feet under' are long and gone.
