for the mets vs yanks subway series at CitiField.i just got the email.so i log on and look for 4 seats best available. sect 115 row 17 price.........$2150 for 4 seats. are you freakin kidding me!!!!! so i then put n for the left field landing zone which is $70 per seat again for 4 seats. it come back sorry we diont have those seats but section 306 row 3 has 4 for $650!!!!! really i could get a hotel room with an 8 ball and a hooker for that price.
I got 2 tickets day of the game 10 rows behind the dugout for 50 bucks a ticket when I went down to Camden the other week. It's nuts what we pay up here.
just bought 2 tix for a co worker sect 515 upper deck directly behind home plate. row 2 seats 3-4 $35 each came to $89.50 after taxes and bullshit surcharges.
And this is why, even before everything that's happened this year, I had decided not to attend any games at either field this year. We all helped them pay for these two new parks too.
Not all of the seats are ridiculously priced - I sat right behind home plate all the way upstairs at Citi Field for $15 a ticket. The seats were great - it's much lower than the top of Shea was, you can see the entire field, and because of the way the ballpark is set up it was even near lots of concessions. The seats I don't get are the ones in the outfield. To people of my generation, those were the bleachers, and everyone always knew they were the worst seats in the house (that's why they were so cheap). I certainly wouldn't want to pay at least $50 a ticket for those seats.
I sat in the bleachers once when I was a kid. Never again. (Though I did have a Little League function in the Shea picnic area once.) I'm an old Ucher seat kind of person. I love the upper deck. I'm still not paying what they're asking though. With a wife and 3 kids to bring, they can bite me.
yeah the pricing is crazy. I was at Fenway last week and I spent 120 bucks for my ticket and food and a couple beers blah blah...and I was by myself!!!!!!!!!! And the ticket was only 50 for a very decent seat. Yankee stadium can blow my nuts
Right field bleachers at Yankee stadium were like $4 when I was in college. And it wasn't chem-free back then. Buddy of mine would say this was like watching a winter league game, on account of all the hispanic speakers seated nearby. Good times. Except the Sox always won the division.
Yeah but don't the Yankees use the money made from selling those tickets to get the most expensive talent out there? Now, whether most expensive talents = championships, is yet to be seen, but it's not like they're 'pocketing' all of this money and putting garbag...I'm gonna stop...hahaha...
they certainly take SOME of the profits and spend kabillions in payroll but theres still PLENTY o' money left over......trabillions
Let's not forget the money they make from YES, as well as merchandise sales (thanks in large part to those same big name talents.) The reality of this is that these teams are pricing out the very same fans that stuck with them through thick and thin. I understand it's a business. I understand making as much profit as possible. I understand corporate sponsorships are where the "real" money comes from. But when you stop getting the fans in the park who actually cheer on a 2-2 count with 2 outs, you start losing home-field advantage.
at least citi field is a nice stadium. The yankees did NOT need a new stadium, so in turn they got a mall. I can say without bias that the new yankees mall was unnecessary and really isnt very special at all. To say the mets didn't need a new stadium, well then you probably have never been to shea stadium. (i love shea with all my heart dont get me wrong)
Riiiiiiight. That was completely without bias. Good for you for your even-handedness. BTW: After seeing that ridiculous outfield this past weekend, I can say citifield is a frigging joke. It's like playing on a Little League field, where you have to run out every home run. Congratulations on having that oddly shaped soccer field.
dude every baseball field is shaped differently. its th only sport that allows it. gives a true home field advantage. here is a list with diagrams of the fields http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Diag/FenwayPark.gif http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Diag/Metrodome.gif http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Diag/MinuteMaidPark.gif http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Diag/CitiField.gif http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Diag/CitizensBankPark.gif
