I feel confident that we can win this game, but I'm nervous that we're going to get down early, primarily because our suspect coverage team allows Darren Sproles to rip one back. I would like to see the Jets use one of their 5 best players, Jay Feely, and keep that from happening. Squib those kicks, and let that ball bounce around. Honestly, I don't know why teams don't do it more. Every kick return play starts with the premise that the returner receives a kick on the fly. Why not foil that plan right from the get-go? Maybe some our out numb-nuts kickers of the past would screw this up in the past, but I trust Feely.
Jay Feely is one of the Jets 5 best players? I think Revis, Harris, Jenkins, Mangold, D'Brick, TJ, and a few others might disagree
yes but then we give the chargers excellent field position...to direct a ball on the bounce like that every time is not a good move...sproles has to do something first
i'm not sure if sproles has returned kickoffs for touchdowns, but he is real good at getting san diego real good field position (around the 40 yard line).
Sproles has a massive 24 yard kick return average. Ranked 40th in the nfl on the season. The guy has the 5th most returns of any player this year (must be that elite chargers defense) and doesnt have a single one returned for a td.
Screw that! We want to win this game we take risks just like they will have too. Either touchback it or drop it in the 10
we can count to 3 before leaving to cover the kick and we would still shut sproles down. Westie has played him several time and shut him down 100%. if you think sproles is fucking worthless midget now, just wait until the jet special teams gets done with him. Sproles can play that midget on Fantasy Island with a minor script change: "Da jets boss, da jets!!!!:
Every Jet player that has a return this year has a higher average than Sproles except Leon who had the same. Brad Smith is averaging 31 yds. Forget punt returns, Sproles is averaging 7 yds a return. Take away his 77 yarder and he is around 4 yds a return. Cotch may not break it all the way, then again maybe he is due, but if you take away Cotch's long return of 31 yd he is still averaging over 9.3 yds per return. I don't think either of these areas is of concern.
