I have been looking at some these "mock drafts". The JETS may have some stronger needs, but if some how, some way Sydney Rice is availble in the 1st round we need to jump all over him.
The guy is tall, fast, great hands, bright...everything you want in a #1 receiver. Even at South Carolina with lousy QB's he excelled. He is right behind Calvin Johnson & like CJ if you plug him in the right program ie. FLA, USC ect, he is in New York during Heisman day.

He is am incredible talent.......Clemmons to Rice=TD'SSSSSSSS

If we draft him, I will flip out. No way does Tangini draft this guy at #25.

I agree with if Sidney Rice is there at 25 we should pick him up no matter what, if he stayed for next year he would have been a top 10 pick and the first wr chosen in the 08 draft.
The 2 rounds should go like this

    1st Round
    Sidney Rice

    2nd Round
    Daymeion Hughes
    LaMarr Woodley

If we're going to grab Rice, we should see if we can trade down into the early second round. I highly doubt that he's gonna be gone until into the second because he didn't have that great of a combine; Bowe most likely hopped over him at the senior bowl and Meachem's probably at least on par with him after his great combine and Rice's relatively average measurables. If we trade down we could probably at least get a 3rd or 4th rounder back if not more (I don't have the draft value chart on me).

Rice or Olsen. These guys have amazing talent. If they are there pick them up.

wasn't Troy Williamson a legit #1 reciever-projected talent out of college, too

he's barely a 3rd now. And i'm all for keeping Coles and Cotch with comparable #'s with Brad Smith as the solid #3 option now that J Mac is gone.

Rice wouldn't fit in with this system. We just put big $ into Cotch's contract. If we were to draft Rice, we'd basically be telling Coles, "forget about an extention". He'd be playing for a contract...which in some people opinion a good thing, but i think it would be bad for team chemistry

    Please....pass on Rice

He will be a player.....the guy is 6'4 and plays like he is 6'8 with all the athleticism.......Honestly he put up better stats than Calvin Johnson (look below-Calvin played in 1 more game than Rice in the last 2 years), Sidney dominated the SEC where the best defenses in the country are, while Calvin played alot of shitty teams in the weak ACC.............SC has a much better system for WR's, I agree, but SC did run the ball a good amount for Spurrior, and Reggie Ball was a much better QB then anyone the Gamecocks had under there for the past 2 years.........Calvin is obviously the better prospect, but Sidney is just a notch below IMO, and you just cannot deny the production......Sidney Rice is a guy that can take over the game at the next level, I'm sure of it.......I love the WR's in this draft though, so it wouldn't suprise me to see him slip into rd 2, only thing is any other year he would be top 10 talent IMO, along with Bowe, Meachem, maybe Ginn

    Calvin Johnson
    GP Rec Yds Avg TD
    2004 12 48 837 17.4 7
    2005 12 54 888 16.4 6
    2006 14 76 1,202 15.8 15

    Sidney Rice
    2005 11 70 1,143 16.3 13
    2006 13 72 1,090 15.1 10

    From NFLDRAFTCOUNTDOWN.com:

    Strengths:
Has excellent size with long arms and a rangy frame...Outstanding ball skills...A smooth natural athlete...Excellent leaper who high points the ball...Has big, soft, and very reliable hands...Terrific body control...Plays faster than he times...Tracks the ball well and has great hand / eye coordination...A terror in the red zone...Will make the spectacular catch...Able to separate and is a great vertical threat...Was extremely productive and pretty dominant in the SEC...Still has a ton of potential.

He really is an awesome prospect, anyone see him play before??

    Yeah.

He's going to only be effective outside the numbers till he bulks up.
We're talking about a deep threat-only type of guy in 2007.

And thats exactly what this offense needs. We have Cotch and Coles to handle the short/mid routes, but neither of them are really "game-breakers" like Santana was. If we add Rice, plus with the addition of Jones already, the offense would be great.

However you don't waste a first round pick on your #3 receiver for the next two-three years when you have a gaping hole at right tackle.

But what RT is gonna be available at where we pick and do we seriously spend our last 3 1st round picks just on the o-line.We should pick best player availbale and Rice should be there at 25.
