In the AL, it's like this: 1)Angels 2)AL East winner 3)AL Central winner wild card- AL East runner-up Tampa Bay is a game up on Boston. The loser will win the wild card and face the Angels. The winner faces either the White Sox or the Twins. The White Sox lead the Twins by 1.5 games. In the NL: 1)Cubs 2)NL East winner 3)Dodgers wild card- NL East runner-up dukes it out with Houston and Milwaukee. The Mets are a game up on the Phillies. The Phillies are tied with the Brewers for the wild card lead, and both teams lead the Astros by 2 games. Houston was thought to be out of it, but a tremendous hot streak has put them back into contention. I think the Mets and Phillies will make the playoffs.
Houston is now basically done. Mets, Phillies, and Brewers battling for two spots. Tampa Bay up 1 on Boston.
You know, when you put it like that, the Brewers are in so much trouble, it's not like the Mets can't grab the wild card if Houston is indeed done. Maybe you really do gotta believe.
Don't count the Brewers out just yet...they have six games with the Pirates and Reds after tonight and then another three with the Cubs at home when the Cubs are going to be setting their rotation for the playoffs.
Dodgers won in 12 today, now up 3 in the loss column with 9 to play. Left LA up 1-1/2, went 7-3 on a 10-game road trip.
Phillies a half game up on the Mets, who are 2 games up on the Brewers. Brewers have a game at Cincinnati, three home games against the Pirates, and then three home games against the Cubs, who will be resting players, having clinched the best record in the NL. Very easy schedule, but the wagon has collapsed. Phillies have one game in Florida, three games at home against Atlanta, and then three games at home against the Nationals. Very easy schedule. Mets have one game in Atlanta, 4 games at home against the Cubs, and then three games at home against the Marlins. I think the Phillies win the NL East and the Mets beat out the Brewers by a game for the wild card.
1)Cubs 2)Phillies 3)Dodgers 4)Mets Mets at Cubs Dodgers at Phillies 1)Angels 2)Rays/Red Sox 3)White Sox 4)Red Sox/Rays Red Sox/Rays at Angels White Sox at Rays/Red Sox The Mets could still catch the Phillies, but that's not happening. The Brewers could catch the Mets. The Diamondbacks and Twins are not eliminated, but the odds of them catching the Dodgers and White Sox are slim. The Red Sox are 1.5 games back of the Rays. The Rays still have EIGHT games left to play. 4 at Camden Yards and 4 at Comerica. The Red Sox have Cleveland at home for four and then the Yankees at home for three. The Red Sox catching the Rays is likeliest, IMO, followed by the Brewers catching the Mets. Mets still host the Cubs for four and then host the Marlins for three. Games are meaningless to the Cubs and Marlins, but we'll see how hard they're going to push to spoil the Mets. Brewers host the Pirates for three and host the Cubs for three. The final series should be a cakewalk because the Cubs will want to rest starters for the upcoming NLDS.
With how the BoSox have been playing lately, I could easily see them winning out, but I doubt they will.
1)Cubs 2)Phillies 3)Dodgers 4)Mets Mets at Cubs Dodgers at Phillies 1)Angels 2)Rays 3)White Sox 4)Red Sox Red Sox at Angels White Sox at Rays Mets 1.5 back of Phillies and a game up on the Brewers. Everything else is done, IMO.
twinscould still catch cws beat them heads up tonight to move within 1.5 edit they have 2 more against cws then 3 w/KC CWS has 2 more w/ twins then 3 w/ CLE
^ you're right. That one slipped my mind. I picked the Twins last night and then forgot about how it would move them back into contention.
Mets still 1.5 up on the Phillies and now tied with the Brewers for the wild card. Twins within a half game of the White Sox
it's past time to see what the Baseball Prospectus statistics say: Phillies are 85.04305% to win the NL East and 97.47132% to make the playoffs. Mets are 54.54748% to make the playoffs. Brewers are 47.88559% to win the wild card, and obviously the same to make the playoffs. White Sox are 61.61190% to win the AL Central.
