I wasn't able to watch the game yesterday, and while I'm sure this was mentioned in the game thread, I haven't really seen much mention of it elsewhere. I got home late last night, watched the game in 50 minutes by skipping from play to play, and am utterly disgusted on all fronts. But in particular, the SOJ move of playing not to lose instead of to win rears its ugly head once again at the worst time.

With 3 min or so left in the game, and knowing your defense had just given up a long TD drive and has come up small all year in big spots, you CANNOT take the FG there and leave it in the hands of the defense YET AGAIN!!! A FG would've been acceptable if it was 4th and long (maybe worse than 4 yards or so) but at 4th and 2, you have to go for the win. HAVE TO!!!!

A first down there essentially puts the game away or at the very least forces the Colts to take TOs and if you eventually have to settle for the FG, there's a hell of a lot less time left. I understand the general logic of taking the points and forcing them to score a TD instead of a FG, but that's a losing mentality. TAKE THE GODDAMN OPTION AWAY FROM THEM BY ENDING IT!!!!! They had it all right there in their own hands and, as is the case any time the Jets control their own destiny, they choked it away.

I'm sure many will disagree, but this was just weak and completely in line with the horrifying coaching we've seen for years.

I absolutely agree with you. We have played like that for years and hoped on our Defense. We need a compete makeover from top to bottom, with true leadership
