Some players started the season very slow, others suprised everyone by there performance. Who are the players, that you think are good to trade for, cuz they started slow, but will come up big the next weeks, and who are the players, that won?t continue to play strong, but have good trade value, right now? I think this are Players to trade for: Lee Evans Laurence Maroney Vernand Morencey Vernon Davis Brandon Jacobs Players to get rid of: Ronald Curry Chris Brown LaMont Jordan Antwaan Randle El Brett Favre They?re just some, that came to my mind, i?m sure, there are more! What about the big 3? all started slow, did their value drop already? (imo, no)
I disagree on most of your players to get. I agree with Maroney and Morency. Maroney is still a very good back and they'll use him more this year. Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn are not going to be the full time RBs back there, and I think they know they need a steady back...hence, Morency when he comes back). However, I think Ward has made too much of a case for himself for Jacobs to really become more than a split carries back. Not to mention, he's never really earned the starting job anyway, so it's not like he has the rites. Vernon Davis is struggling and I don't foresee an end in sight. Alex Smith looks bad. They're leaning on Frank Gore. Vernon Davis truthfully hasn't done anything in his career yet, let alone this year, so he'd be a risky pickup. Evans I'm unsure about. Sure his year could turn around, but I'm not so sold on Losman and I'm not even so sold on Evans' ability. That one big year might just be that. With your players to get rid of, I kinda have the same feeling. If I were you, I would not get rid of Ronald Curry. His stock isn't that high right now after his 2 catch performance against Denver, but you gotta see him play and you'd understand he's a steal to have on your team. He's clearly the #1 ahead of Porter, and Oakland will be throwing a lot. Chris Brown you wouldn't be selling high, at least not to anyone that paid attention this past week. If you can get anything decent for him though, you gotta go for it. He's not going to do much and never has. LaMont Jordan I put in the same boat as Curry. He was injured last year and on an awful team, so he just never did anything. Kiffin's brought a great offense for Jordan to thrive in, and I think he could also be a steal this year. That offense is doing some damage and Jordan's the center of it. As for Randle El, yes, get rid of him ASAP. He's not any good and if you can convince somebody he is good (which for some reason is way easier than it should be), trade him instantly. I like Brett Favre this year actually, but I agree, his stock will probably not get much higher than it's at right now, so if you have significantly better options than Favre, pull the trigger.
My mistake, I took that to be what you were working with. But regardless, those are my thoughts on those players...if I get anymore frustrated with this Mets game, I may post a list of my own haha.
Trade High Now (by position): QB -- Tony Romo: He's a top 4 QB right now and there's no way he has that much talent to be there. Yes he's got TO, but without Terry Glenn, I think it'll start to wear on him. Crayton and Hurd are not good WRs. TO will always be there with Witten, but that running game better stay consistent. If they continue to play Julius Jones, watch for Romo's #'s to start slipping because they'll be able to play more and more against the pass. RB -- Edgerrin James: I'm sorry but I don't think he's back. He's doing well but I would get rid of him ASAP. He's not the same back he used to be and Arizona's offensive line is not that good. Look for him to hit reality hard sometime soon. WR -- Plaxico Burress: Struggling myself to get rid of him right now. He's got too many injury concerns and with 4 TDs, you won't get anymore for him than you could right now most likely. I'm trying to trade him for Andre Johnson and absorb the risk that Johnson's out for several weeks because Plaxico just isn't going to hold up with all his issues. TE -- Ben Watson: New England spreads that ball around a lot. 2 TD's already is a great start but don't look for him to maintain that production. He could see an increase in yardage, but I highly doubt it'll be anything worth noting. Key Performers who you should probably hang onto (the not so obvious ones): QB -- Matt Schaub: Chances are you have him as a backup. If Andre can get back on the field, Schaub might end up as your starter by the end of the season. He's looked that good so far. RB -- Adrian Peterson: He will probably end up being the steal of the draft. As long as Chester Taylor doesn't dig into his carries too much, he'll get you lots of yardage, and a good number of receptions (despite that not being his specialty in college). WR -- Chris Chambers: He's off to a great start and is raking in receptions. It's only a matter of time till he can find the end zone consistently. He's always been a solid WR with a bad case of the drops, and while that's still an issue, he's getting open a lot more this year and has a QB that can at least get him the ball (and is looking primarily at him). Also: Randy Moss...obviously having a much better year, but he's definitely back and looks as good as ever. I have him and I'm not even thinking of trading him. TE -- Kellen Winslow: He's going to keep putting up yardage. He's basically another WR out there. As long as he's healthy, he could be the 2nd best TE this season.
Good post. I would definitely trade for Lee Evans right now. Best guy to go after. Also, you might be able to get someone with LT or LJ who is impatient with a really good offer. Remember - those guys are studs and will bounce back. Trade your best players for them - remember how much you wanted a top 3 pick when your draft happened. I would trade any of those guys you said but their stock is already down cuz they all were weak last week except Favre. And I kind of like Favre this year. A good guy to trade right now is Clinton Portis. He's off to a good start but he's injury prone and his o-line is hurting right now.
Get Low Now: QB -- Donovan McNabb: He looks rusty, but he'll come into his own. As long as that knee holds up, he'll end up having a very solid year. Look for a big week from him in Week 3. RB -- Steven Jackson if you can. If not, Larry Johnson: He's got a few rough weeks in front of him, so maybe wait a week or 2 when his stock is really down. His schedule gets much easier and I personally think he's going to have a big turnaround. WR -- Andre Johnson: Not what you were expecting, I'm sure. But he's hurt and no one really knows how hurt. I'm willing to bet it's a mild sprain (the swelling is minimal) and he should be back in a week (max 2 I'd say). If you can get him now and have a replacement for the time being, he'll be a steal when he comes back. Look for somebody that only had 2 good WRs and now only has 1 b/c of Johnson's injury. TE -- Chris Cooley: He's a solid player and puts up very comparable stats to Shockey. He just doesn't have the big name Shockey does. I would definitely consider picking him up for low. Players that are underperforming but I'd still stay away from: QB -- Philip Rivers: Sadly, I have him in two leagues and I've already jumped ship. LaDainian will pick it up so he'll have a little more space to work with, but Vincent Jackson hasn't proven anything yet. Craig Davis isn't ready to step it up completely. Gates is really his biggest weapon (and what a weapon), but he's just looked uncomfortable in the pocket. I don't think he's mentally there and it could be some time till he comes around. RB -- Reggie Bush and Maurice Jones-Drew: I'd stay way away from both of these players. BOTH have looked terrible. I blame Bush's problems on himself. He's going for the home run every time and just losing yardage. He doesn't look like he's all there and is probably more focused on his publicity than his performance. MJD just isn't in the right offense anymore and I'm pretty confident he'll struggle all year. WR -- Darrell Jackson: I think Lee Evans is going to come somewhat alive this year, which is why he's not on here (great season? probably not, but good enough I'll say). As for Jackson, I just don't see him having a big year, more or less the same reason as Vernon Davis. TE -- Vernon Davis: Stay back. Stay way back. He hasn't performed yet in his career. I don't see it changing much this year.
