I am going to estimate that after all these cuts, plus restructures, we'll have about 23 mil in cap room. Hopefully Moore, Rhodes, etc. can be restructured.

    Re-sign

    S Abram Elam
Is decent enough to start, but is good competition for a draft pick.

    K Mike Nugent
I'm a fan of Nuge, he's showed signs of being very good, and I'd rather go with the young guy, as good as Feeley was last year.

    FB Tony Richardson

This is a must; was a big reason for Jones leading the AFC in rushing.

    DT CJ Mosley
Is a very good backup, has always been productive when on the field.

    CB Hank Poteat
Good depth, seems to like playing here.

    LB Cody Spencer

More depth, good special teams player.

No one in that group should be more than 2 mil per year, so it should leave us with about 18 million for free agents.

    Free Agent Signings

LB Bart Scott, BAL (4 yrs/24 million)
Briggs only got 6 mil per year last offseason, so Scott should by no means get more than that. It seems we're going to end up with him or Lewis, and I'd prefer Scott, as Lewis will probably want about 10 mil per year. This year's free agent LB group is very strong, so the Jets have other options (Michael Boley, Keith Brooking, Channing Crowder, Mike Peterson for example).

CB Chris McAlister, BAL (2 years/8 mil)
Would be a great mentor for Revis and Lowery, and a phenomenal #2 corner. I don't think he's done at all.

DE Chris Canty, DAL (5 years/26.5 mil)
Would be awesome next to Jenkins, a perfect 3-4 end and a big upgrade over Jenkins. Is from the Bronx, so may want to play for the Jets.

QB Byron Leftwich, PIT (1 yr/1.5 mil)
If you look at his stats, he's been a pretty decent QB when given the chance to play. For example, in his last year as a starter for JAX, he had 15 TD & just 5 INT. I still think he can be a successful starting QB in this league if given the chance to play, and he was good when he got in games for PIT last year. Leave the QB job wide open in TC and see who emerges between Leftwich, Clemens, & Ratliff.

TE Justin Peele, ATL (1 yr/1 mil)
Looks like Baker will be released. Peele can be a good backup as we make Keller a main focus in the passing game.

    Cut

    DE Kenyon Coleman
Paying him 4 mil is not necessary with Canty on board.

    WR Brad Smith
I know he's great on ST on making nothing, but there's no spot on the roster for him with 4 QBs and Stuckey, Clowney, Henry, and Wright all battling for WR time

    Draft

    1. WR Jeremy Maclin, MIZZ
The offense badly needs a playmaker other than Leon, and that's exactly what Maclin is. With Maclin, Keller, and Cotchery, the offense would have a nice young passing game.

    2. S Louis Delmas, Western Michigan
Can come in and possibly start right away.

    3. ILB Gerald McRath, Southern Miss
After Harris and Scott, there isn't much depth at ILB.

    4. RB Rashad Jennings, Liberty
Can possibly be Jones' future successor, and a great #3 for now.

    5. DE Zach Potter, Nebraska
    More D-Line depth

    6. OG Anthony Parker, TENN
    Provides more line depth

    7. P Thomas Morstead, S.M.U.
Reggie Hodges just doesn't cut it.

    Depth Chart--starters in bold
    QB Leftwich/Clemens/Ratliff; camp battle (3)
    RB Jones/Washington/Jennings (3)
    FB Richardson (1)
    WR Coles/Cotchery/Maclin/Stuckey/Clowney/Wright (6)
    TE Keller/Peele/Dearth (3)
    LT Ferguson/Hunter (2)
    LG Faneca/Turner (2)
    C Mangold/Turner (1--Turner already counted)
    RG Moore/Parker (2)
    RT Woody/Hunter (1--Hunter already counted)

    Total = 26

    LDE Ellis/DeVito (2)
    DT Jenkins/Mosley/Pouha (3)
    RDE Canty/Potter (2)
    LOLB Gholston/Thomas; camp battle(2)
    MLB Harris/Scott/McRath/Spencer/Trusnik (5)
    ROLB Pace/Murrell (2)
    CB Revis/McAllister/Lowery/Poteat/Coleman (5)
    FS Rhodes/Elam (2)
    SS Delmas/E. Smith (2)

    Total = 25

    K Nugent (1)
    P Morstead (1)

    Total players = 53

I'm hoping Ainge, Henry, and Caulcrick can all make the PS. Ainge just can't be kept unless he wows in TC, it's silly to carry 4 QB. I like Henry a lot but the Jets can't carry 7 WR. And I think Caulcrick can be the teams future FB one day.

Great Job, PinPoint .. as a Jet fan I would be thrilled with that off-season, and IMO its not unrealistic

If we get a Flacco-type year out of whoever the QB is, I think this team could be very successful. Thoughts?

I would rather just keep Kenyon Coleman and not sign Chris Canty.

Signings are solid. Scott and McAllister would be great additions and will certainly be linked to the Jets. Peele would be a nice signing to replace Baker if we can't get him back.

Given the success had in free agency, I would welcome an offensive playmaker in the first round and Maclin could be just that.

Not sure if Delmas will be around. However, there should be plenty of other options at safety such as Rashad Johnson or Patrick Chung.

Is McRath a bit undersized to play in the 3-4?

I would also pick up another young CB in the draft since we don't know how long McAllister will be playing at a high level for.

    Overall, a great offseason though.

I don't love going WR in the first round. I'd love a second round pick at the position, but Maclin isn't ideal, in my opinion. You'd get better value with D-Will, Nicks, or Britt in the 2nd.

    That would be pretty awesome.

Think we could afford Leigh Bodden instead of McCallister and Peele? Bodden would be a pretty decent upgrade over McCallister.
