With the new regime, this list has been thrown around a lot. Well I for one am going to go ahead and say what I expect most people are thinking. What the heck is the point of it? I understand that by putting the players on the list before TC started allowed them to be taken off at anytime, and if they are added after that I believe they have to wait until week 6 or so. But it doesn't seem to open up a roster spot or take the salary off the cap like the IR does. Therefore I ask, what benefit does it give to the team and to the player?
Maybe its a way for him to rest a veteran whose knee might stillbe a little tender. If he had put him on the IR he may have not been able to use him early on if he was ready.
You can't just tell a player he can't practice with the team. That would violate the CBA, so, they PUP players.
Nah it's definately in the CBA. It's just not many teams use it because like I said, it doesn't seem to have a tangible benefit.
If a player is on PUP, they do not count towards the roster maximums - They can be removed prior to the start of the season at any time, if they start the season on PUP, they are unable to play until week 5 or 6 -
