He was on Dan Patrick show, he feels Leinart is not even the second best. He believes Cutler is a better passer. He was frustrated by all the talk about Leinart's a winner, he feels that has no bearing on a QB's future. Apparently he Simms) won a total of 8 games in college, and believes he was the 7 overall pick because of his arm strength, accuracy and size.

Joe Monatana who was a 3rd round pick in his draft, might not have made it today.. he believes that the draft experts and TV coverage are to blame for these so so QB's being drafted high.

Chris Simms is next on the radio, he also liked Cutler..

Appropos of nothing but this thread, but:

Rich Cimini said on my show last night that Phil Simms likes Cutler best, and Boomer likes Leinart best.

Dan Patrick made the point that Steve Young (the QB not the analyst) said he saw Jim Druckenmiller on the practice field and immediately knew he was a dud.

Like father, like son. Just heard Chris Simms on Dan Patrick radio show. He said he likes Cutler the best. Obiviously Dad and Son have good communication skills...

I agree with him. Obviously we will not know if Leinart or cutler will make it as pros, but I agree that the media has ALOT to do with first round hype. IMO I wouldnt draft a QB in the first round unless he was an anomaly amongst QB's. Such as Vernon Davis is as a TE. I also wouldnt draft Brick as he is not an anomaly either. I want Davis or mario

The question is are you willing to take the risk on Cutler? I have Cutler slightly behind Leinart with Young, Clemens, and Croyle battling for 3rd.

Trading the 29 and 35 for Cutler is a good idea, I'm convinced.

dude, this is old news. did it really require a new thread?

Simms has been saying this for months already. and since when did Phil Simms' opinion become gospel?

None of these Qb's are really worth mentioning until second round
We need to get off this QB love
None of these guys are what we need
And everyone who is talking QB with the 4th pick still haven't answered my question.
How can you justify your two highest players, playing the same position watching the game from the sideline, progress?

If you go for a quarterback, it has to be Cutler. Young is NOT an NFL quarterback, and Leinart worries me with his arm strength. Cutler has the most upside, a great arm both powerfully and accurately, and performed very well on a crappy team.

I would prefer not to draft a QB in Round 1, however. Croyle in the 3rd is good enough for me.

If you listen to Simms he is clearly one of the guys looking at tape and doing his homework. He is bright concise and organized, there are very few NFL analysts who hold a candle to Simms. The fact that he also happens to have been a top NFL QB means he knows a thing or two about being an NFL QB. That is also the reason he is on CBS No. 1 NFL broadcast team.

Well. It's a few hours away from draft time and Bush isn't going to be picked at the #1 slot. This should be intresting.
I hope we trade down a spot or two, grab a QB and have something like seven picks in the first three rounds.. Now THAT would be a great start in the rebuilding process,
