    I know this is a non-story but the thing that shocked me is even the usual PFT trolls in the comments section are bashing it as being complete nonsense. This is close to a first.

    Although I love to see Rex squirm this is unfair. His son being a walk on WR at Clemson and this is the only game he could make this season. To top it off, cuts were finalized Friday night.

    The NY media is getting out of hand with their agenda towards the coach.

    Couldn't believe what I was reading in today's Daily News. Mehta is an absolute joke. Nothing like conjuring up a story that means nothing at all and turning it into insubordination.

    I actually read this on PFT last night and several Jets/Rex haters were backing Rex on this. This is how low NY media is. NY media is making Jets haters side with Rex

    Its his damn son... If I was an NFL coach, and it was "cut day" and my son had a game, I would leave the team in a heartbeat... Family over everything...

    this is the NFL, not a regular job. I understand the backlash, if it was a regular thing he'd be out of a job but as a one time thing I don't think it is a big deal.

    I've personally boycotted the NYDN entirely. No website clicks, no newspaper purchases, no following any of their reporters on twitter... nothing. They are a waste of space.

    Unbelievable.

    If he didn't go, they'd report that he blew off his son. The dude can't win. The coverage of our team SUCKS.

    I know it ain't gonna happen but man, how great would it be if somehow we got off to a great start. Rex certainly deserves it. Can you imagine? What if Geno lights it up as our QB.

    OK, I woke up from that dream...
