According to PFF, we should resign Mo, Snacks, and Ivory by letting Fitz go. Then let Petty compete with Matt Moore or Tavaris Jackson for the starting job. Personally, I think their grading system is opinion shrouded in "mathiness" in an attempt to seem more legit than it is. Your thoughts? (I'd post the link but I don't have enough posts yet to do so. Just Google PFF Jets.)
Thank god you can't post the link. Then I would have read it out of curiosity to see what awful stats they created out of thin air that tells them to make a claim that goes against all logic.
That is truly an insane idea. First serviceable Qb we have had in decades. Also, I believe a large chunk of Petty's development lies in him spending time with Fitz. Fitz is one of the smartest in the game and a true professional, petty I hope is learning a ton.
John Jastremski has talked a lot on WFAN overnights about the need for balance between sabermetrics and the old school watch the game thought process in all of sports, not just baseball. It's entirely true in this case, and in most cases. While advanced statistics might allow a team to say hey this corner is weak against the post route on 3rd and longs, it also doesn't produce statistics to support trading two defensive lineman to leave a giant gaping hole at quarterback with 0 starting experience on the roster. Balance, my friends.
LOL @ Matt Moore and Tavaris Jackson. I'm sure both of them and Brandon Marshall would get along just fine...ha
PFF has really gone downhill over the last year or so, did they get new management or something? I used to love them but their stuff has been ridiculous lately. I think they graded Pryor as one of the worst safeties in the league.
It's almost like they take the analytics and create headlines as a result of them to try to stir the pot in the media. They want to stay relevant and draw viewers to their website because people have previously used their ratings as a bible to football analysis. People ignore the fact that these numbers need to be taken as simply just numbers. They need to be taken with a grain of salt when it comes to building a team.
With Matt Moore or Tavaris Jackson were a 3 win team next year. Not exactly the type of year to shoot for with an aging team Laughable concept though put out there only for clicks and to get people riled up.
As much as PFF wants you to think they use analytics, PFF grades are not analytics. They're a bunch of guys watching film and assigning each player a grade for each play. Analytics are objective, not subjective, but unfortunately, people like the PFF crowd (unfairly) give analytics a bad name. And yeah, even real analytics need to be put into context when they're used for decision making.
Nicely said. Even all the more reason to take PFF for what it is. I'd like to dive deeper into how PFF assigns their grades, and I'm a big statistics guy but I've never cared to sign up for their website or use their grades to base my opinions on the game and how each players play it.
Does the article mention the Jets playing without cleats? That would make just as much sense. And I love Petty. _
Haven't read the article yet but if a valid argument can be made for not resigning Fitz, suggesting we sign those 2 bums is not a good way to support it.
Yeah? All right. Let's make it really really really bad this time. Let's sign Charlie Whitehurst! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Wonder if PFF is the ones spreading the shit about Fitz leading the league in "almost interceptions" lmao. As if every qb doesn't have INT's get dropped. Jets defense probably led the league in almost interceptions in 2014 and they were still PFF ranked near last.
