Interviewed by Benigno. http://wfan.com/homepage/local_audioclip_234180358.html King on Mangini... More like Bellichek of Cleveland than Bellichek of NE King on Mawae.... Talked to Mawae in Titan training camp. Mawae still in contact with his veteran friends on the Jets... Jets not buying into Mangini. Discuss
This implies to me that Mawae is bitter and twisted. I don't believe him. He hasn't had a good word to say since he was cut.
Peter King is a Pats loving tool. His opinion is no better than anyone else on this board. I'm sure a lot of the people that Mawae talk to that "aren't buying into Mangini's system" are people who tell Mawae what he wants to hear because they feel bad that he's bitter about being let go from an organization that he felt he was a co-owner of. Even if they aren't buying into Mangini's system, they had better play to it if they want to keep their careers alive.
Wow, Mawae said he "heard" guys are miserable in camp. King says he hasn't been at camp either but feels Mangini is the BB of Cleveland. Thanks for wasting my time with this garbage.
I wouldn't believe a single media report on Mangini. They are mostly biased because they do not get the access they used to.
Also being miserable at camp <> not buying into Mangini. It simply means they do not like camp. You want to know something? The players should not like camp.
1) Players should be somewhat Uncomfortable (Miserable) in Camp 2) Any players that aren't buying into a new coaches system get the Boot after year 1 anyway... Year 1 in a rebuild program is to see who buys into the system - if 12 Vets don't buy it then so be it, enjoy your next team guys.
Besides which, when Belichick coached Cleveland there hadn't been a Belichick at New England ahead of him to prove the approach could win multiple Superbowls. Sure there was Parcells, but just as Belichick was a variation on his theme, so Mangini is on Belichicks. In short, what a load of crap.
I can't wait to see how quickly the unconditional love for our coaching staff turns into hatred. I have to over/under at about 5 weeks.
More like, I can't wait to see how long it takes for the hypocrites to show their faces on this board, seeing as how the majority has said that they expect a rough start. It'll be interesting to see how fast that changes after a 3-game losing streak.
Right!!! If these guys are crying out there, then they should go. We finally have a hard ass coach that wants to win.
that's a good point. Now that Belichick has been proven successful, his methods carry clout. I will say this, tho: I hope Mangini scales back on this whole mix and match thing. I think building chemistry is important and I'd like the first unit - whatever it is - to start developing it. Yes, I want them to be able to do mulitple things, but I want them to be able to one thing first.
BB took over a 3 & 13 team in Cleveland and in year 4 they went 11 & 5. The team was dismantled after that when they committed to moving to Baltimore. BB was in a disaster at Cleveland brought on by the owner. No offense to Mawae, he should have been cut in training camp last year based on his performance. Let's see which of his friends who are bitching make it through training camp. I'm guessing the guys complaining are McCariens, Coles and Kendall all of whom based on performance so far should STFU.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: when you go 4-12 (two years after going 6-10), things have to change. And it's not like these guys are being paid $35k a year with no benefits. Either you're with the program or you're not. If you're not, get the f' off the team. Even if you're Coles, who I like as a player. And I saw Mawae and the Titans get their ass kicked vs. Denver last week. It was like an NFL team taking on a PeeWee football team. So while I still think the Jets don't reach .500 this year, I sure as hell don't think the Titans have the winning formula working in Tennessee either, Kev. Go back to Adelphi, get your degree, and shut up. Finally I'll say this: solidarity can work both ways. Everyone loved Herm, but they played like sh*t last year. If everyone hates Mangini, at least they're unified and pulling in one direction. So long as he is respected, he doesn't need to be loved. In the end, winning will either keep all the players on board or losing will have them jumping overboard.
