I've kind of touched on this before but I think at this point it's worth revisiting. First round is pretty easy to determine who will go roughly where in the round. I think the interesting question is who is viewed as being potential steals in the 2nd to 7th rounds. Who you think will be a 'sleeper' who falls through the draft cracks. we're in that phase now that, unless someone gets in to off field trouble, there won't be much movement in player rankings until the combine. And to be honest, this is the juncture I like to base 95% of my value on players, what they've done on the field. I stay away from players who shoot up the boards during combines (bust potential warning light goes off) and I get very excited when a player I really like falls at the combine (attention value shoppers!) These are my Boys that I'm pulling for the Jets to land some of. QB. Unless it's one of the top 2 I don't want any part of a QB until no earlier than the 5th round. The two guys at the top of my list at that point would be Sean Mannion and Garrett Grayson. Neither would be ready for being a starter in 2015, neither are even close to being sure things in the NFL But both have the qualities I look for in a Starting QB, they're just very rough mechanically. (side note, if the Titans do draft a QB in the top 2 I would inquire about the availability of Zach Mettenberger. They'd be unlikely to trade him as he's cheap and would be a very good backup to either of the QB's available at #2 but it can't hurt to inquire). RB- It's really hard for me to say any RB will be taken in the first round. No RB has gone in the first round in the last two drafts (for the first time in NFL History) and RB is such a devalued position right now because teams feel they can get a really good RB in the 3rd or 4th round. That said Gordon has a real legit shot of ending that RB drought in the first round this year. But because of the devalued status of RB I'm going to include him as a 2nd round possibility, even though I honestly think he'll be gone in the first). Therefore Gordon Leads my list, followed by Gurley, Telvin and Johnson. My sleeper pick for late rounds UDFA is Auburn's Corey Grant. FB there is only one player on my list here, he's more of a hybrid who can actually run and catch. Jalston Fowler. WR- I'm breaking this in to two categories, guys who are primarily outside receivers and guys who are primarily slot or 'wildcard' players (wildcard chosen for the name of guys who will line up at WR, Slot, in the backfield, whereever just so you can get the ball to them in space). Group 1 I'll start with with the biggest enigma at the position, Beckham-Green. He's top 10 talent but due to his off field issues very likely could drop to the 2nd, and if he has more issues or bombs the combine interviews could even wind up like Da'Rick Rogers in 2013 and go undrafted. He's at the top of my list with a Caveat, if he bombs the process I wouldn't touch him till the 4th or 5th at the earliest...get the value that compensates the risk. Other guys I have in this list are Devin Smith, tony Lippett and Dres Anderson, A guy who's been falling lately that I REALLY like as a potential sleeper (at this point, he could rise again come combine) is Austin Hill. Group 2 has several guys I really like, a lot. Tyler Locket, Phillip Dorset and James Crowder. A guy who currently figures later in the draft that I think could be a total steal if things don't change is Antwan Goodley (though I may be under estimating where he'll go in the draft). OT guys who I like right now, this list is pretty rough right now and some may move to guard. for tackles I like Jake Fisher, Donovan Smith and a guy that's fallen out of grace Ogbehhi (sp?). My later round sleeper pick would be Corey Robinson. OG, I'm breaking rule a little on this one and only listing guys I think will pass through the 2nd round or have a good chance to fall past the 2nd. I'm not in favor of taking a guard in the 2nd this year. Josue Matias leads my list here followed by Jamil Douglas, I'm a little fuzzy on guards right now. There are several others I like but I'm 99% certain they go in the 2nd. My sleeper pick here is Texas A&M's Jarvis Harrison. TE- I'm not going to touch much here, i"m not a fan this year of drafting a TE before round 4 and only then if value drops down to there. The two most likely to reach that point that i'm interested in (not saying they will reach that point, just they're the most likely of the bunch) Jesse James and Ben Koyack. Mycole Pruit is interesting as well. DT, not listing any at this time. DE/OLB Topping my list is Hau'oli Kikaha. He could be a bottom of the 1st guy but I think he'll be around in the 2nd as things stand right now. Same with Nate Orchard. Markus Golden and Za'Darius Smith round out the top of my list here, I guess I'd pick Shaquille Riddick as my Sleeper here. ILB, This is a list of 3, any of whom could go as high as the 1st or as low as the early 3rd. Perryman used to be my #1 but he's now my #2 followed by Ramik Wilson, my #1 is Eric Kendricks. My Sleeper is Stephone Anthony. FS- This is tough because one or two of these guys could go in round 1 or as late as 3 or 4. The guy I like the most all around is Cody Prewitt. Followed by Gerrod Holliman and Derron Smith. I have no idea what order they'll go in or what round even. I don't currently have anyone I like as a sleeper pick right now. SS- Only two on my list here, Tartt and my sleeper pick of Kysheon Jarrett. CB- Again, several of these guys could go in the first, they could be in the 2nd, one may drop the same way, and for the same issues, as Beckham-Greene. First the most enigmatic Markus Peters. Top 10 talent with off field issues. My personal favorite right now is Ifo Ekpre-Olumo. I've been hearing some rumbling that his stock may be falling (and if so I love it!), D'joun smith and Josh Shaw round off the top. Ronald Darby and Charles Gaines round out the group. My sleeper pick for CB's is Cam Thomas.
Chris Hackett 6’1” 195 lbs FS TCU IMO Hackett just might be the best FS prospect in the draft. Based on where he is ranked on various sites, it would seem that not many knows this. Let’s hope it stays that way.
Kyshoen Jarrett would be a solid pickup in the middle rounds. Can play both safety positions and can play on special teams too.
Ifo's stock fell because he blew out his knee... Probably won't play next year and if he does I expect it will be limited. He was my favourite corner in the draft till he got hurt.
Ladarius Gunter, CB/S Miami Josue Matias, OG FSU (If he really makes it out of the first... not sure that he will) Rashad Greene, WR FSU Andy Gallik, C Boston College Mitch Morse, T Missouri Grady Jarret, DT Clemson (for any 4-3 team) Every damn RB in the draft, lol. Paul Dawson TCU /Stephone Anthony Clemson ILB -- I seem to be the only person who thinks Anthony is better than Perryman, and I think you are all nuts, lol.
Marcus Peters Dorial Greene Beckham Gerod Holliman Paul Dawson (might go in the first) Duke Williams/Abdul from Nebraska/6 other Running backs
Dorial Green-Beckham - has top 10 talent, but trouble seems to find him Ladarius Gunter - underrated corner, good size, physical Jesse James - great blocking TE, huge body for RZ TE's Andy Gallik - would be great depth at center learning from one of the best Tyler Varga - hard nosed runner, tough to tackle, good blocker Kyshoen Jarrett - safety/kick return hybrid, plays fast Vince Mayle - huge bodied receiver, reception receiver.
Kevin White - CB [TCU] A.J. Cann - G [South Carolina] Rashad Greene - WR [FSU] Durell Eskridge - FS [Duke] Laken Tomlinson - G [Duke] Ty Sambrailo - OT [Colorado State] Jeremy Langford RB [Michigan State] Tony Lippett WR [Michigan State] Denzel Perryman ILB [Da U]
i dont wanna sound repetitive but DENZEL PERRYMAN IS our PERFECT 2nd round pick !!! I think he'll be there 2nd round for us. would be a steal!!!! we'd forget all about David Harris (even though i have a gut feeling he returns if he's not in Buffalo)
I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him later in the draft if he's still there despite the knee injury, too much talent.
