It hasn't been confirmed by the Giants yet, but that's the rumor. I can't say I know much of him, any input you guys have is appreciated. http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription.aspx?EntryId=2482
Big rah-rah guy. We ran the Tampa 2 and got gashed in our Run D. We had a great secondary, but big questions on DL and LB's. I'm still not sure if it was DJ insisting on the Tampa 2 or PF. He did go to a 3-4 at one point during his interim. I'm not sure if he's the best guy out there, but he's decent. Slight upgrade for you guys, but not by much.
Anyone is an upgrade over Sheridan, and he could be blind, crippled, and retarded and still be better than Sutton. You can change those names as you see fit.
From what I've read he runs a base Tampa 2, but doesn't rely on it as heavily as some DCs do with their base sets. I don't love the hiring, but let's see what happens.
His D gives up yardage, but it's tough to score against them in the Red Zone. I think he'll do much better with the Giants than he did in Buffalo. The Giants have better talent than Buffalo in the front 7. I'm sure you read this already but I'll post here for ya....... http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d815bbd4f&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true
Three years removed from winning a Super Bowl and we've entirely abandoned the defensive philosophy that won it.
Yeah, I've read this. His specialty with defensive backs will be good for us because Webster regressed under Wrong-Way-Sheridan last year. I don't like the idea of giving up yards, but hopefully the higher talent level turns this around.
That's why I think he'll be better with the Giants. The Giants front seven can stop the run far better than the Bills. That right there should bring about a lower Yards/game. If he can take away opponents red zone scoring like he did in Buffalo, you guys should compete again next year for the NFC East.
