Harvin looking good, I'm still not willing to draft him at 17.

Great news that Ingram is doing well. Tore his ACL and missed the season, he could have been a late rd 1 selection. Has alot of skills similar to Dustin Keller, great hands and YAC guy. I'm glad to hear about this kid improving his stock....probably Rd 3 is my guess.

    HARVIN DOESN?T DISAPPOINT

Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 18, 2009, 6:21 p.m.
University of Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin had another strong workout, reportedly impressing several NFL wide receivers coaches as well as Minnesota Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman, Carolina Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney and Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik.

According to Gil Brandt of NFL.com, Harvin ?looked exceptional in position drills and caught the ball well. He also showed great explosion.?

Harvin registered a 37 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 10-1 broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times.

Meanwhile, Gators tight end Cornelius Ingram ran the 40-yard dash in 4.69 and 4.72 seconds with a 9-6 broad jump and looked ?sharp? in drills.

Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris was also at the workout.

Along with this durability concerns and the obvious current flaws in his game, Harvin also seems like a bit of a punk to me. I'll still pass. Good to see him doing well though, as that could push a player that I'd rather have down to us.

harvin is clearly too much of an explosive difference maker on offense. the jets will never draft him. oh well!

He's also an injury waiting to happen who can't run routes and is coming out of an offense who historically has produced catastrophic busts at the WR position.

His best use is as a Reggie Bush type, and we already have someone like that in Leon.

I have to agree with you here. There are a few too many red flags there that would worry me if I was a GM. I hope our GM doesn't decide to take him....

Good points Mobius. I've also felt Havin is a Hybrid and not a true WR, who lacks alot of the basic components of being a well-rounded WR. There is no doubt he's a dangerous weapon, but one-trick ponies scare the heck out of me. Too many WR's with blazing speed that lack basic skills...ala Peter Warrick, make me look the other way.

I don't know if I'm just looking at this too simply, but I view DHB in the same light; I think the only place where he'll have success in the NFL is on reverses and screen passes. In essence, I believe he's another one-trick pony. Both guys, while talented enough to be "game breakers" in college, are missing some very basic skills that are absolutely necessary to successful WRs at the NFL level.

However, DHB's got one thing over Harvin, and that's his work ethic. This is one reason why I wouldn't be ready to jump off a bridge if we nab DHB. My friend who goes to UMD has met him and said that he's a really good guy who is determined to work his ass off to improve. I still don't want him, but it's at least one thing helping his case for me if he comes here. Harvin just seems like a selfish punk to me.

Percy Harvin = Leon Washington v2.0

He's going to make a hell of a weapon for someone though, if he can stay healthy.

I admit that I am totally captivated by Harvin every time he gets the ball in his hands

I know the risks, raw at WR, durability issues and Gators WR's so often tank in the NFL, but his talent is through the roof, the most explosive player in college football last year in my view, and it wouldn't take long for me to get excited about Havin if the Jets did draft him ... not saying I would take him, that would depend on who is left on the board at 17, but it wouldn't take me long to get excited about Havin if the Jets did pick him

This kid is the definition of a "homerun hitter" in a football context

If Schotty were to embrace Leon's role in the offense and really exploit it, I'd love to have Harvin come here. In essence we'd have two guys who would play a similar role of RB / WR hybrid. And that's good since the team doesn't have to rely on (and wear out) just one guy (like the Eagles did with Westbrook).

If Harvin were drafted with the mindset he'd get RB carries, WR work, maybe some special teams, that would be great. The kid is fast and it's exciting every time he's got the ball in his hands.

With Nicks showing he's a lazy dog, Harvin has moved up my WR rankings.

After finally seeing him in an interview, i'm intrigued. The kid has confidence and a head on his shoulders. His versatility is something Schotty would use well with Leon and Harvin.

Leon can take a beating, Harvin doesn't seem like he can. That would make Leon do any between tackle schemes and let Harvin take care of the off tackle plays, not to mention his ability to line up at WR.

He could take pressure off of cotchery, and maybe the young green QBs the jets are going to go into the season with.

percy harvin is the truth. i wish people would stfu already about the gators not "producing good pro receivers". yes, that is true. but you can't make a stupid blanket statement without really knowing what this kid is about. his skill set is completely different than recent UF busts

he's a burner, and a playmaker. injury prone? Possible, but he didn't miss a ton of games. He played banged up....and still put up numbers.

the bush comparisons are somewhat right....but i think he can better than bush, personally.

wow he impressed the vikings and bucs,

    ummm.......hows their WR corps?

    exactly.

obviously i dont think hes worth the pick in the 1st rd. no way.

thats just me, but UF's system is way too much of a gimick for me. i still thank the Patriots for biting on Chad Jackson a few years back.

  20. Harvin is an undersized "Offensive weapon". We already have one of those in Leon. I'll pass.
