I don't understand this. We had cap room for Nnamdi but not Pool or Braylon? Are we giving Cro everything we were going to give Nnamdi?

Not surprised after Santonio he is going to want around $18 million guaranteed I would have though and around $44 for 4 years .

We were lucky last year to have them both but a fully fit jco and someone like Jones will be more than serviceable as No 2 / 3 receivers.

    Then get me Malcolm Floyd.

He's awesome at catching the deep ball.

HOPEFULLY most of this stuff is just a smokescreen----I would take Pool and Edwards back in a minute---but at what cost$

Jones or Floyd would be good fits in our system.

We have the $$$ its a polite way of saying we dont want you for that much...

As much as I wanted Braylon back, you have to admit there's concern he could go off the reservation again with another big-money deal. He was on his best behavior this year playing for a contract (and STILL got a DWI), doesn't mean he'll stay relatively headache-free once he gets more money.

There are other talented receivers on the market anyway.

I suspect Rex/Tanny were willing to go with younger, less experienced (i.e. cheaper) players at other positions if we were able to land Nnamdi. Since that hasn't happened, plan B seems to be bringing in a better balance of guys across the roster. Just my speculation, of course.

Braylon can be a true no. 1 for some teams in the league. The FO would be blowing a huge part of their remaining cap space to bring Braylon back, leaving little for other positions. They were willing to do that for Nnamdi considering the caliber of player, but Braylon is not Nnamdi.

Thats what I would expect is our plan... Sounds like Braylon is butt hurt over us chasing nnamdi and is raising his demands to return. So we just said good luck losing your next contract. We will go sign somebody who wants to win more than he wants money

maybe im just being a whiny cunt but if we lose Braylon, Poole but keep Cro I think we arent as good as we were last year. Without Smith, Braylon, Big Wood, plus an aging LT it just seems as though we will have a lot less talent on the offensive side of the ball.

If we lose Cro thats really going to hurt. Poole wasnt great but i think hes better than Smith. Besides signing Holmes, so far this FA period has been rather shitty for us.

    So truth or whiny cunt?

I like Braylon and always did however NYJEFAN10 makes a great point- on his best behavior still got a DWI, can't have that many players on thin ice. Sure we can get another #2 receiver - I did love how he liked being a Jet but what can we do? I just hope CRo is not no 10 mil a yr that would suck

This has less to do with Salary Cap space than it does about who represents Braylon Edwards. And Cromartie, too. Condon and the NY Jets have a rather checkered recent past.

Not surprised Holmes is one strike away from serious suspension. Edwards is as well I don't think we want to take the risk god forbid both get into trouble and we have no WR's for year.

I really wanted Braylon back, especially since Sanchez would be able to restructure. They must be saving a lot of dough for Cromartie.

Well if it comes down to Bray or Cro then Cro is more important. I just hope that we dont lose both. I have a feeling whoever wants Cro is going to have to overpay. However, it may be worth it considering the fact the 24 will potentially hold out again next year.

Some interesting posts. I thought you guys now have plenty of cap space, no? I also thought resigning him was a priority. While he says he's not taking a home town discount, I think he will. I don't think he wants to start in with a new team again after a year.

Extremely disappointed, especially considering that it's our own faults. He offered discounts, he loved the team, he repped the team proudly, he was one of our most important players last year... and we turned our back on him. I said it multiple times last night, but this is the first big blunder of Rex's tenure. Good luck finding another WR to run-block like he did in your ground and pound offense Rex. Randy Moss, James Jones and Malcolm Floyd won't even sniff Braylon's sack in that department.

Cro is more important than Braylon like it or not.

He is represented by Tom Condon. There will most assuredly be no "home town discount".
