Pennington takes 1 step drop looks right at Cotchery on a fade route and throws high and out of bounds. No gain. Time to pass: 0.93 seconds. Pennington take 3 step drop and looks right to Coles on a fly route, and looks back over the middle to a wide open Cotchery on a 12 yard in route. Gain of 20. Time to pass: 2.70 seconds. Grade B-; Under good pressure, Pennington delivered a good pass to Cotchery who clearly had a step on his man. Pennington did however fail to look off any receiver, but with the pressure and personal foul penalty, it becomes irrelevant. 2nd and Goal ( ball on MIA 3) -5 WR Shotgun. Pennington 3 step drop, looks left Coles slot left, hits him on a 10 yard out route in the corner of the endzone. Gain of 3 yards. Touchdown! Time to pass: 1.18 seconds. Grade: C; Good pump fake to draw the defense to the opposite side of the field, but the line did not sell the screen and the blocking was not there. Pennington may have passed the ball a bit premature as well, which didnt allow his blockers to get downfield. 1st and 10 ( ball on NYJ 43) - 4 WR Singleback Offset, trips right. Pennington 5 step drop, looks right to Coles and spots Cotchery on a 5 yard outside give route. Gain of 12 yards. Time to pass: 2.40 seconds. Gain of 4 yards. Time to pass: 1.74 seconds: Grade: B; A good pass, but a bit high and a safe pass for a minimal gain when there was plenty of protection and time to find a more intermediate to deep route. Good velocity on the ball allowed Coles to make the catch undisrupted. 2nd and 6 ( ball on MIA 40) - 4 WR Shotgun set. Pennington with 3 step drop, looks middle for Smith but gets pressured. Pennington flushed out left and buys time until Cotchery cuts out towards the sideline. Gain of 9 yards Time to pass: 5.09 seconds. Grade: A-; Pennington wanted to go middle, but couldn't find his man and was flushed out of the pocket. A great job of rolling opposite of his throwing arm and buying time for a receiver to get open. Ball delivered right in Cotchery's numbers, and great footwork used to stay in bounds. 2nd and 8 ( ball on MIA 29) - 4 WR Shotgun set, trips right. Pennington with 3 step drop and quickly spots Smith on a 5 yard out hitch. Gain of 5 yards Time to pass: 1.60 seconds: Grade: B+; Pennington quickly moves the offense with small chunks. Pennington look left to Washington who ran a wheel out of the backfield, and hits Smith underneath who cut his route off underneath Washington's. Gain of 14 yards. Time to pass: 3.10 seconds: Grade: A+; An absolute perfect pass, just out of reach of the defender's hand, but just far enough from the sideline to keep the receiver in bounds. Pennington did a great job of sitting in the pocket, waiting for his receivers to get open. 3rd and Goal ( ball on MIA 4) - 4 WR Shotgun set, trip right. Baker tight right, runs a 10 yards in route in the back of the endzone, and Pennington spots him on his cut and lofts a pass deep and to the baker's back hand. Baker is the only man who can get to the ball and tips it to himself, hauls it in and gets both feet in bounds. Gain of 4. Touchdown! Time to pass: 1.78 seconds: Grade: A+; Pennington got pressured up the middle and slightly faded back as he passed the ball to prevent it from being tipped. He put so much touch on the ball at the right time that Baker was able to get under it and grab it with one hand before securing the ball and keeping his feet in. Another perfect pass. 1st Half: Pennington started out slowly, making poor decisions and passes on his 1st drive, but soon found a rhythm and taking what the defense gave him. Made two spectacular TD passes, throwing it where only his receiver could catch it both times. A notable pass to Cotchery before his 2nd TD with only 7 seconds left set up his TD pass to Baker, which gave the Jets a 21-13 lead going into the half. Grade: A- 2nd half to come tomorrow...
time to pass??? what do you mean by that? Is it his time he had to throw cause those numbers are redicolusy low.
time to pass was recorded from the second the ball was snapped to the second he released the ball. I agree they were pretty low hmy: which can only mean one of two things...He isnt getting the protection, or he opts for the quick dump off...I'd like to think it was a combination of the two, and seeing that he was only sacked once last week, I see that as a plus:up:
Thanks bud, it isnt too bad, only a few hours but its worth it to get a better idea of how our QB is doing. I took a suggestion that I start recording his time before he passes, any other suggestions to better the analysis I would appreciate... The only thing I regret was losing my copy of last weeks game, and not being able to do one for Clemens valiant efforts.:shit:
I'm a bit curious by this analysis. One can take it as a critical assestment and an opportunity to put a player under considerable pressure from fans and media under a microscope. I take it you are a Chad supporter who just likes to follow the progress of a player, but considering the amount of chatter for a QB change i get the feeling this is just trying to find something wrong with Penny or give the Bashers a reason to be. I understand that he is the most important peice on the board but why not do a team analysis of every play. Take into consideration what is going on in other positions that cause Chad to make the desicions he does. I am impressed that you go into great detail, i just feel the timing of it raises an eyebrow and causes me to question whether you're doing it to praise chad or to give people a reason to replace him. Obviously Chad did very well but this is the only time i've seen an analysis like this. Where was this during Week 1? or During Week 2 with Clemens? Regardless nice job.
Nope, you are wrong. He gave great analysis for the Kellen Clemens game also. He just does a very thorough analysis of the QB position after each game. And it is obvious to me at least that he is very objective whether it is Penny or KC behind center. At least so far.
It's a funny game. The two plays down at the goal line were the difference between an A- and an F....and Chad needed great catches on both of them. If he made the same throws to McCarreins for instance, we'd have been kicking FG's, would have lost the game, and it would be an all out feeding frenzy this week.
It's coming. We've seen enough of him to know the play it'll probably be too. Coles, after 3 games of running 7 yards and breaking either inside or outside, will go inside, then do the little swim move thingie and bust it down the sideline. Chad'll loft it to him. It'll go for a 30 yards and people will go..."See, Chad can throw it deep!"
No he didn't. He states above that he couldn't because he lost the tape. This thread debuted in Week 1.
Don't look into it too much, there is no intent behind the analysis to create a controversy among starting QB's....I am a Penny supporter, just as I am a supporter of every other player on this team. Hell, I even support McCareins. Why? Because he is a Jet. Do I think he sucks at times, of course! I am a supporter of whatever helps the Jets win football games, and while I am a big supporter of Pennington, I can see Clemens as the Jets future. As for now though, it is what it is. These are meant to be informative, nothing more ***2nd half will be up in about 2 hours***
God bless your analysis, but where do you have the time to do this? I'm lucky if I have 3 uniterrupted hours a week to watch the game.
I could have sworn he did one on the clemans game. Or at least on the game clemans took over for penny in.
