Jets | Team reaches deal with Pennington
    Sun, 5 Mar 2006 14:53:59 -0800

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the New York Jets and QB Chad Pennington have finally agreed to a new restructured deal that will keep Pennington with the Jets. The deal has not yet been signed but has been agreed upon. Pennington was scheduled to make $9 million but now will get a $3 million in guaranteed salary and can earn back the remaining $6 million incentives.

:drunk: keeping him around at that money will set back the rebuilding. that money could be used on other players who can actually help the team. he already got $22 million to play only 16 games. i don't blame john abe one bit for being pissed. :shit:

thank god. we freed up space in our cap to sign Vinny for $6 or $7 million this year, let him win the SB, let chad heal up on the bench, and turn the reins over to chad in 2007 as Vinny rides off into the sunset. this regime is brilliant, brilliant i tell ya. we just better get Vinny signed and sealed soon, before we have to get in a bidding war with other teams.

We SAVE more money by doing this rather than cutting him. So your post made no sense.

Why do you feel the need to do this with any thread that discusses QBs? Yes, we know you love Vinny. No, he is never coming back. Let's move on.

Would you rather him get messed up AGAIN and take a hit next year when we have all this brillant FO moving going on? It may sound like that I dislike the moves thus far but that is not true. Until this move I was on board but if you think that keeping Chad and signing a back-up like Collins or Kitna is our key to success then you are in dire need of medication.

Now we can easily say we have the best backup in the league regarding experience and composure.

now we need to draft a RB (williams) and OL (mangold, jean-giles) and maybe even vernon davis depending on what we get for abraham... maybe pick up arrington to make our defense ridiculous.. this would be sick.. we trade our #4 to about #10 and a second rounder and we draft williams there.. at #9 if the abraham trade goes through we take vernon davis.. then with both of our 2nd rounders we get mangold (36) and jean-giles at (42)... along with picking up arrington and a DT in the offseason.. that would be the best scenario ever...

sadly, no. Jetsrock16 is our current resident psycho vinny fan. He's just a little late, possibly the son of a former one.

That's half the good news, now the other half is hopefully his shoulder will be in much better shape this year since he had alot more time to rehab and will be able to actually throw a few mos before Camp this year.
