What do you guys think of this guy? I think he could be our solution at DT/NT. Very big at 344lbs, and will probably be available in the 3rd round. I definitely think we need to address DT in the 1st or 2nd round, but if no one is available, this would be our best pickup later in the draft.

nfldraftcountdown has us taking him. He has character issues so depending how bad they are I guess we could take a look at him. He's 344 so we should obviously take a look at him. His strengths column reads like a dream tho

    Strengths:
Has fantastic size with a huge frame and terrific bulk...Extremely strong and stout at the point...He is pretty athletic...Moves well and has good range...Can take on multiple blockers...Can really stuff the run...Still developing...Has a ton of upside.

    Weaknesses:
Extremely raw and has only played the position for a couple of years...Not much of a pass rusher...Conditioning and stamina are concerns...Runs hot and cold...Is not quick or explosive and lacks a burst...Intelligence / Character may be issues.

Nfldraftcountdown list these as he weaknesses but I really like this kid. He's raw but in round 3 how do you not take a flyer on a kid with this much potential. They say he's not a pass rusher but quite honestly who gives a damn if our NT get 5+ sacks. Endurance and his character are the only things which I would truly would worry about

I've been sold on this guy for a while now. He should be our 3rd round pick and hopefully develop into our big run stuffer who keeps the blockers off vilma and then we can stop hearing the trade vilma garbage.

Soliai in round 3 sounds suspiciously like Pouha in round 3, BUT I like having a couple mammoth mofos in there stopping shit cold. Plus, I am in the minority that thinks Pouha might have some real benefit for us this year.

Pairing him with Pouha and Tui would give us a great NT rotation

Tui was released a long time ago, after an injury settlement. He will not be in the rotation. However a rotation of Robertson (who will occassionally kick out to DE), Pouha, and Soliai would be very good.

I havn't ever been able to find out what Soliai's character issues are. The rest of his weaknesses sound exactly as those of a young NT should, no one really cares if he can get after the QB. As for his strengths and measurables, they are exactly what you look for in a NT.

but if the knocks are intelligence and work ethic, i doubt Mangini really wants him because those are the antitheses of his players' requirements.

as much as i'd like to see Soliai end up here, i don't think it'll happen because of those red flags -- unless they're bogus and blown out of proportion. i wonder what Mangini really thinks of him.

    cheers

Does anyone know if he was invited to Hofstra? Did Mangini interview him at the Combine?
