We had many guys here cursed him for being conservative on these DDP plays. Now we know the problem. And we all KNOW it now.
You mean the same Paul Hackett that refused to practice TEs in receiving reps? That guy can go get bitten by a zillion fire ants.
I think there is a decent point to be made. As much as Chad has physical disadvantages, I wonder if Hackett changed Chad's way to approaching an offense as he was grooming him into a starting quarterback. But Hackett had the conservative reputation long before coming to the Jets.
Honestly, Chad is much more suited for Hackett's offense. With a QB like Chad Hackett's offense is awesome. The problem was always the dumb ass play calling with Hackett. But his system was solid. With that said I feel no need to apologize to Hackett. Although he had a good system, he was a knucklehead in almost all other phases of the game.
Are you not shocked by this thread? And youve told me only a few times. Plus cut me some slack its not like theres a fairy tale story going on around here and its not like im the only one steamed. If you dont like the cursing instill the censoring like JI forum of crap does. This forum rocks because of free will.
Chad was making a living bombing it to Moss in Marshall. Hackett and injuries get most of the blame for this one and it isn't even close. I know you hate Penny, but Hackett has and will always be terrible. That move as well as the Cotrell move may in part have been as scapegoats, but time as proven that they needed to be fired. We can already see how fat Teddy is ruining SD
I think that can be part of it, but you have to wonder. The main criticism Herm used as a reason he hadn't started Chad in 2001 after Vinny's crappy play was that he was taking too much time to develop because Chad 'Overthought the position'. He applauded Tory Woodbury for 'flinging it' while criticizing Chad for not 'lettin it rip'. A lot of people on the Times board took to calling him Pentium and Celeron because of it. What I saw today was certainly overthinking the position. I hate to credit Herm for a decent reference but it certainly seems he wasn't far from the mark.
True, but Moss, who can't even be covered by NFL CBs was running against I-AA and inferior I-A secondaries... anyone could have bombed it up
Yeah, I know. I tried my best. Hey, I mailed the Jets a petition to fire Hackett, so I hate him as much as the next guy. But why is it that Chad hasn't been firing the ball all over the field now without Hackett? Did Hackett instill some great deal of fear into Chad? I'm really not trying to defend him at all.
By, no mean I am defending Paul Hackett. I just try to say it was noit fair we pointed all fingers on him..... For Chad, no thing changed since Paul Hackett left. And we still have so many people to find excuses for Chad.
I think Herm didnt capitalize on that aspect of Chad. Peyton is an overthinker so is Brady. Taking into account every aspect of the game. They both started Rookie seasons. Herm was more about protecting and fathering people. Mentoring. Then football.
