Whatever the gay Patsies do they do it for a good reason.

Maybe Collins hit on Belichek's wife. Or failed to listen to Belichek's cheating orders.

I'm pretty sure I've read that exact same comment pretty much on every Pats trade in the past ten seasons. How's that working for you?

And yes, Collins was the best defender in the Pats defense. He's been really average this year.

Apparently, he wanted Von Miller cash. First Jones, now Collins. Who is next? Hightower? He's their best defensive player now.

A player held accountable for their actions?

    Wow!

In New England, no player is above the team.

PATs always do this. They make sure they get something if they know that the player will get away once the rookie contract is over. But a 3rd rounder seems very low. I'm sure they could have gotten a 2nd rounder from someone. Little too much familiarity with the Browns & PATS lately.

Looks like they are more focused on locking up Hightower, Malcolm Butler & I would even argue Jimmy Garropalo long term.

thing is that if they didn't want to pay Collins they would've gotten a 3rd rounder compensatory pick anyway. So that's kind of a wash.

The Jets should learn a lesson about what to do with players who don't care or think they're above the team.

Yeah, - I saw Adam Schefter say that on Twitter as well. But arent compensatory picks determined by losing more players than you gain? I guess losing Collins would have put them over the top on the count?

There are ways to discipline players without trading them away. Tom Brady is 39 years old, their window is smaller and smaller and they trade away a young star on their defense?

To me that's really stupid. Its like the ego in that front office is bigger than the player they just traded away

Well I'm pretty sure no one is going to be going rogue on the Pats defense for the rest of the year.

It's strange because they were probably going to get a third anyway when they lost him this offseason. Guess when you make Bill mad though he sends you to the worst possible destination no matter the return.

Not surprised at all. For years those fuckheads' defense has been having an offense that outscores everyone.

    Not really.

    1. Like stated before, it's based on a team's entire off-season.

    2. Comp picks are at the end of rounds whereas the Browns 3rd rounder is most likely going to be pick #65.

    3. Collins' comp pick (if any) wouldn't kick in until the 2018 draft.

1.) Your 1st point is half wrong.
The compensatory picks are based on a team's entire offseason but they are also weighted by the class of free agent departures/arrivals. Collins has "honors" meaning, being a Pro-bowl and all-pro would undoubtedly be weighed heavily by the NFL unless the Patriots made a huge free agent signing (something they haven't done in forever).
    http://overthecap.com/the-basics-and-methodology-of-projecting-the-nfls-compensatory-draft-picks/

    2).
Your 2nd point is wrong 100%. The pick is for a conditional, compensatory pick that Cleveland is due to receive in the 3rd round. This is the 1st year you can trade them and Cleveland is doing so. The pick will be at the end of the 3rd round, around pick #95, not pick #65.

3). This point is correct. They are swapping Jamie Collins and a potential compensatory pick in 2018 for a compensatory pick in 2017, yes.

Was just about to question that, kept seeing "compensatory third-round pick" and was wondering if the Browns already knew they were getting a comp. pick to trade away.

I don't think Belichick gives a flying hoot what anyone thinks as all the douche does is win, with anybody at anytime. Who knows, he may just walk away when Brady hangs it up too. I doubt it but you can't ever question what the guy does as his system is unquestionably great!
