New England sent a second rounder to Altlanta for Sanu. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...triots-trade-for-wr-mohamed-sanu-from-falcons
The New Brunswick-to-Foxborough connection continues. Most players from one college on NE: Rutgers with 4. .
This trade might be an indication that either Josh Gordon has failed a drug test, N'Keal Harry is not looking so good, or Edelman's ribs are not getting any better. Assuming I am wrong, this now becomes the WR weapons for Brady who better stop complaining. Julian Edelman Josh Gordon Mohamed Sanu Phillip Dorsett N'Keal Harry (eligible to return Week 9) Jakobi Meyers Gunner Olszewski This is pretty good depth for the WR position. Both Gordon and Sanu are big receivers who pretty much help with the lack of Tight Ends this year.
McDaniel is gonna love this guy. Can really do lots of different things (wildcat, throw a pass). A 2nd sounds steep, but with the Pats history of 2nd round picks, I'd rather have him. Also, he's under a reasonable contract for next year. The Falcons have no choice but sell players off. They were projected at $8.75mil over the cap for next year with just the guys they have now! Jones and Ryan account for 27% of next years cap alone, and Ryan is toast at this point. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...2020-salary-cap-situation-makes-things-worse/
It's an even trade. He isn't worth a 2nd rounder for a team not going anywhere but a team that is slacking on offense and has an all-time defense and currently sitting at 7-0? Sure, he's a great addition. Great value for the Falcons as well since they are 1-6 and out of the playoff hunt.
Ok, I guess I wasn't wrong, Gordon has been placed on IR with the indication he will be waived when he gets healthy. Now it looks like this and makes sense: Julian Edelman Mohamed Sanu Phillip Dorsett N'Keal Harry (eligible to return Week 9) Jakobi Meyers Gunner Olszewski
What if I said it was for a 3rd rounder since the Patriots will probably be at the very bottom of the 2nd round.
