http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=4542936 Wow, another big blow for tha Pats. :jets:
Well that's disappointing considering how strong he was running but not all that surprising. Maroney has looked decent in a few spots and I think Morris and Green-Ellis will be able to do a decent job filling in. I couldn't find any word on how long it's supposed to be other than "not season ending". Anyone have any info on that?
I saw Green-Ellis during one of your preseason games, and that kid looked pretty good. It can't help, though, that I heard the morning radio yackers talking about how Maroney publicly threw the Patriots offensive line under the bus, and said that they were screwing up blocking assignments. I'm sure that makes things very friendly in the meeting room.
Maroney just isn't a very good RB. There will be times when he'll play a great game, but he never seems to be able to do that consistently (probably because he's rarely at 100%) and the Pats' running game is enigmatic because of this.
He's strange because he's actually got a 4.2 career ypc but at times he just looks invisible. I think he's kind of underrated in that way , because some people are so disappointed with what it looked like he could have been when his career started that they give up on him. I think Maroney's actually slightly a bit above average, but he probably won't ever be an elite player. The endless bitching some people do about him is kind of overdone.
what he did in the early part of his career if probably why people get on him so much. he came out of the gate strong, but hasn't been consistent like you said.
he's not a good back, they just try very hard to justify picking him but its clear he's nothing more than a run of the mill back and they know it.
Jets fans who complain that Thomas Jones goes down too easily should watch Maroney play. He invariably runs directly into the blockers and crumples like a dixie cup--there's no creativity or vision with this guy. Everything he gets is based off of the o-line's initial push. The Pats are better off with BenJarvus Green-Ellis in my opinion.
Taylor was a season ending injury waiting to happen anyway. He has been for years. Whatever they got out of him is probably more then they expected. It's why they have about 6 RBS..they are all a disaster.
