What does everyone think of the Pats draft? Did they improve with their 85 picks and trading down 25 times?

I think Brandon Spikes will do very well in their D.
Granted, I hated his guts, but Tedy Bruschi had a solid career and he was never fast.

I think they definitely did. I like McCourty, he's a real strong special teams player, a good nickle-back with potential and he tackles well. Assuming he's healthy Gronkowski is a complete TE, Spikes is a guy I think could be Amazing in the pro's I know the knock is his speed, but everytime I saw him in college he was dominant. And the trade with Carolina was just plain robbery, a late 3rd for what is probably a mid to high 2nd next year?

Thank god the Pats are an average drafting team, otherwise with all their picks they would never lose a game. Ever.

The draft they're hauling in this year is pretty good, but could have been amazing.

They turned a late third into a pick that could easily be #33 overall next season. Great move. And mccourty will be very good on that roster with all he can do well.

I'll say it. I HATED their picks. Here is a list of some of the guys they passed on that fit a need on that team that I was worried about them getting.
    Demarius Thomas
    Dez Bryant
    Dan Williams
    Odrick
    Kyle Wilson
    Buluga
    Linval Joseph
    Rodger Saffold
    Kindle
    Gerhart
    Dunlap
    Sean Lee
    Ben Tate
    Hardesty
    V. Ducasse
    Andre Roberts
    Brandon LaFell
I thought their best pick was the TE and he missed a year from a back injury.

Their are only two guys that have really bothered me one is Cunningham because I think he could be nasty, the other was Gronkowski because I think he could be an awesome TE but for the back injury. I think Spikes is overrated because their are major concerns about his range and I'm not sure McCourtney is as amazing as he was projected to be

It seemed to me they were scared to make a pick. With their recent track record they should be.

Meh they could have had a 1 in a millennium draft with all those picks.

I disagree about the Rbs, I think this was a weeak year, and none of those guys are as good as what they have. I agree on Ducasse, kindle, odrick and the WRs, I think Williams fits the scheme, but i think they are set with Wilfork, pryor and brace. As for the tackles, i think with Light, kaczur and Vollmer they wouldn't get on the field. It wasn't an unbelievable draft, but they got a bunch of solid players who have an opportunity to make an impact, and that 2nd next year.

    They're lost without Pioli.

you are insane, they had a really good draft last year. Butler, chung, volmer, pryor and edelman all played well. brace didn't play much, ingram is their starting long snapper. tate and mckenzie spent the year on IR. that was a very good draft.

I think Spikes is wildly overrated.. I won't say they had a bad draft, because obviously it is too early to tell, but I was definitely a little worried they could have loaded up in a big way.

Agree completely. After Pioli left, Belichick has been shit scared to make a pick. This is what happens when he is allowed to have the only say in personnel moves. It's a huge reason as to why he got fired from Cleveland.

Truthfully I think Miami had the best draft in the division.

Traded down got extra picks, ended up with a monster of Odrick in the first, fricken Misi in the second, and Jerry in the 3rd.

I know that most people would be ecstatic if thats what our draft looked like.

Thank god their team sucked to begin with, because they just got some good upgrades.

Since I think more highly of my Dolphins than you do I think they're in great shape after the first 3 rounds so far. Beefed up their defensive front 7 and their OL. They just need a FS, RB and some more defensive players for depth and they are ready to make a run at the division title.

I agree they had a great draft. But they lucked out with their draft position, they were in the perfect spot.

Talk to a few Pats fans and see what they say about the RB position. Tate would have been a great fit.

Not impressed with pats picks could have been a lot worse. I was worried they would do some moving up. Dolphins having a decent draft. I think we own our division this year.

They did ok but nothing they did really scares me and I would have thought with 4 picks in the top 53 they would have been able to do something that did.
