I could be wrong but I believe that the Patriots got a lot more calls in their favor than their opponents whether they were controversial or not during their superbowl years. Then Ty Law comes to NY and is getting called for holding, interference just about more than any other player. Was he a very good player in NE because he was getting away with the same plays that he was being flagged for with the Jets? Because he got an awful lot of calls last year and because of that I didn't think he was such a great CB but he was supposedly one of the best when he played in NE.

I think the guy just got older and started to hold and interfere more.

The new rules were dubbed the Ty Law rules, regarding interfering with a WR, and that happened before Law became a Jet. Fact is, Law has not been a shut down corner for a couple of years now. His old holding and bumping just doesn't fly with the new rules, so he became a ball hawk, instead, often leaving his assignments to go INT hunting.

Personally, I think much of Coleman's problems last year were a result of Law being on the field, trying to cover for him. I also think that only Bellichick would be able to make him play within the scheme. If he goes to KC, Edwards will again let him free roam, to the detriment of the defense.

Agreed, Law came to rely on physical play when his body started to really age in football years. That is a lot of punishment and it usually catches up to players sooner rather than later.

Alot of it has to with the system that he played in NE. The system is set up so that they DBs have alot of success because the front seven puts the pressure on. That's why they didn't really miss a beat when Ty Law got hurt and they were fine with Samuel and Poole. The next year when they didn't have Bruschi or Ted Johnson and Seymour was hurt they had some trouble because they couldn't put pressure on the QB.

I think another point is that Law looked a lot heavier last year, and I think he struggled playing with the extra weight. It's probably time to change to safety at this point in his career.
