One - Why is schedule spelled wrong? It's such a basic word in the English language. And has been represented in almost EVERY thread on here lately.

Two - This topic has been discussed several times in other threads. The explanation is out there do some research.

    Three - WRONG FORUM!

So much for strength of schedule then huh thought they were supposed to make division winners and superbowl teams schedules tougher the next year

The problem is that they play everybody in our division twice. That's why they have the easiest schedule. Nothing can be done about that. Toss out the Jets and Miami and they don't.

Plus the two pre-determined divisions were both weak last year. In the west they have the Raiders 4-12, Chiefs 4-12 Broncos 7-9. And in the NFC West they have the Rams 3-13, 49ers 5-11 and the Cardinals 8-8.

We "benefit" from this as well except we have 48 wins to go up against in the division versus the Pats' 24.

I'm in the process of looking up this article I read last year about the Schedule Process in the NFL. I don't think...I don't think...that they look at the Draft order in order to come up with the schedule. In '06, we played everyone in NFC North, last year, we played everyone on the NFC East, this year we're playing everyone on the NFC West...so there's a pattern there. I think the only time people refer to as a "soft" schedule for losing teams and "tough" schedules for winning teams comes down to 2 games and that depends on position. For example, the Jets came in 3rd in the AFC East, therefore we play the Bengals (#3) in the AFC North Division and the Titans (#3) in the AFC South Division.

The Patriots (#1) play the Steelers (#1) AFC North, and Colts (#1) AFC South. Sadly enough, that's where your "tougher" schedule comes in.

    Read below:

From the Jets point of view:

In 2002 when the league went from 6 divisions to 8 they decided to set up a basic schedule. In 8 years the Jets would play every team in the NFC twice. Once at home and once on the road. The idea was to get every team to play each other. They also cycled the AFC divisions. And the when you didn't match up with a division you would play the other two teams in your conference that finished in the same position in their division as you did.

For the Jets it looked like and will look like this:
2002 NFC North and AFC West
2003 NFC East and AFC South
2004 NFC West and AFC North
2005 NFC South and AFC West
2006 NFC North and AFC South
2007 NFC East and AFC North
2008 NFC West and AFC West
2009 NFC South and AFC South

I thought I read on ur original post that they used the Draft order to create the Schedule. When in reality u said it was just the way it played out. My bad. But with regards to how winning teams get a tougher schedule, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. This year, the Patriots play against other #1 teams (Steelers, Colts) while we play their #3 teams (Cincy, Titans) in their division.

Sometimes my brain works faster than my hands can type. I just assumed everyone would understand that who we play was already pre-determined.
