Interesting says there is more there than he thought. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/p...ations-low-expectations-serving-as-motivation Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk 2
I am loving the start. Like I said before, the team was a train wreck last year and won 6 games. Now, every season is different, but there is no reason to think the team will be worse than that this year.
I found bullet point 6 the most interesting. I had always thought McElroy had a great skill set for the West Coast Offense. He's an accurate and very smart QB. I doubt he has a real shot at starting but I think he'll be a very good career back-up which can not be underestimated in today's league.
the 4 man rush of pace coples wilk barnes is surprising. I thoughtit would be coples wilk richrdson barnes. surprised pace is getting as much run as he is.
My thoughts on the McElroy. I've read some people who said that he has been outperformed by Simms and that was just one day that he saw McElroy play better. Also, he seemed high on Richardson, I think Pace being on the line just has to do with Richardson needing to learn the system. Don't forget both Wilk and Coples took awhile before they started flashing. Don't put too much stock into Pace being there today. I'm excited for the defense and cautiously optimistic about the offense, not due to the talent but due to Mornhinweg. Also, think David Lee as the QB coach could be big since he preaches footwork and that is a problem of both Sanchez and Smith. Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk 2
Just look at those comments on the article. Man, do people hate the Jets. Can't wait for them to serve up some dishes of crow this year.
Even then, we should have beaten Tennessee and the Patriots game was SOOO close. We definitely could have been 8-8 and we were utter garbo. the sky is clearing up for the Jets.
Funny. I had the team pegged at 3/1 after four, and 11 wins, and I was labeled a crank, and a homer. Its fairly obvious, this years squad is underestimated because of last years circumstances.
3. GM John Idzik said the QB competition is a true open competition, nothing has been decided at this point, and he and Rex will sit down at the appropriate time. I'd rather have Morningwheg make the call 6. Greg McElroy looks pretty good in the new West Coast offense. He may not be in any QB conversation, but he really knows where to go with the ball and was sharp in the shallow cross passing game. In fact he was better than the two QBs competing for the starting job. Should make his play in pre-season game(s) interesting to watch. 8. Mark Sanchez simply doesn't spin the ball as well as Geno Smith. Smith can really throw the slant game and stands tall in the pocket and has a big over-the-top release. But..but...Mark's got more playoff wins than Geno. 9. Marty Mornhinweg feels Braylon Edwards brings a toughness to the receiver position. I was a little surprised by that comment. Nice to have him back. He bleeds green. Hope he can make an impact. 10. QB coach David Lee is blending in some wildcat/pistol packages into the offense. It could be Jeremy Curley at QB. If at first you don't succeed... 12. Calvin Pace blocked two Geno Smith passes in the team period of practice. Smith has to learn not to telegraph his release. I mentioned his "measured" release earlier today...I didn't think about blocked passes resulting. Makes sense.
Geno clearly has a quicker release, Mark, does have more playoff wins:wink: Mark, it seems is too concerned with "laying it in There" my feeling is QBs should drill it, 90% of the time.
Mark isn't concerned with laying it in there he just can't make the throw ... at a Ok %. rooting for the guy but his mistakes have been toxic
The team was not a train wreck, Sanchez was. The defense was still 8th in the league even without Revis and no pass rush at all.
sanchez needs to worry about mcelroy too. if gmac shows he is a capable backup in the wco i could make it easier to cut mark in event geno wins the starting job. if mark isn't the starter than the quicker he is totally removed from the team the faster the team moves on. hobbes please don't chime in hear, i am just stating a hypothetical based on the report in the article
I'm probably not alone here feeling more comfortable in the underdog role than in the "talk tough but under-produce" mode of the past two seasons. It's sort of where we've always been as Jets fans, and I like it better. F everyone. (else)
#6 interested me quite a bit...as well, if we were TRULY running an OPEN QB competition then McElroy would and should factor in...especially within the first 2 weeks of training camp. I often wondered how many balls Joe Montana threw that actually traveled 20 yards...not YAC. Unfortunately, I don't believe they kept those kinds of stats until well into the 90's. You never know, McElroy could be better suited to run a WCO. Just putting discussion topics out there. I find that, regardless of his 10 year scouting career, Kirwan was always very level with his opinions, criticisms and critiques. I take what he says with about 10 times the weight of what anyone else says in the Media...
