http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/flash/2006/allProTeam also Justin Miller as Returner... Not sure if I agree, but most of the top safeties have slipped or have been hampered by injuries this year. So... maybe.
i'm also glad to see Rhodes gaining more and more recognition. i didn't know his numbers were that good at the halfway point: 50 tackles, 3 sacks, and a FF or two. that's pretty impressive. having said that, he doesn't seem to stand out during games -- i guess, mainly because, our D is terrible and we don't make many plays. but anyway, heck yeah to Rhodes! cheers
He doesn't seem to stand out because quite frankly, he just might be the only player on the Jets defense that worries offensive coordinators this year, so they try and take him away from the play whatever way they can... What Lenny said about Miller is true, he hasn't YET developed into the Cornerback they have expected...Patience is a key, and this just vindicates my whole argument about Miller being 22, only in his 2nd year with only a handfull of starts... Back to the topic, Rhodes deserves it at this point.
Haven't heard of him? You will, especially with first-year Jets coach Eric Mangini conjuring up ways to make the second-year veteran the key instigator in the secondary, and perhaps on the entire defense. Rhodes might now (i think he meant not) wow many people in any one area, but he's possessed a very complete game and continues to get better. A hybrid safety, interchangeable at free or strong, he's got 50 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions.
regarding Miller, i've been saying the same as you. let's just wait until Mangini gets his hands on him. he's had one Offseason with Mangini (though this past one was more turbulent with the new regime 'n all); another full, stable, Offseason may vastly improve Miller. cheers
I think Justin Miller has all the tools....for defensive back.....SPEED,,HEART,,INSTINCTIC AWARNESS (by evidenced by his kick-off returns). I think Mangini is really going to turn this guy around with some technical tutoring and turn him into a top flight DB...
That is correct. He has 0 interceptions in 24 career games. He still has a ways to go to catch William Bartee (87 games, 0 interceptions).
Although its no great, he hasn't really started that many games. Wait like 3 years and see where he is then and then make a judgement. If he still doesn't have a pick at that time then there is something wrong.
