If this is true, I have to truly wonder about the competence of a front office that is asking advice from a heated division rival's FO... Is Mike Tannenbaum incapable of independent thought? Or is he just an accountant?

I so much like Bill Parcells, and when he's talking to one of "his" guys"...I mean, how can you say such a thing...?

What -- you don't think T and M are independent minded enough? I assure you if Bill said something, they would expect him to defend it adequately or lose face with them. Come 'on.

That was just the typical, very speculative arm chair GM knock.

See, everything is a sign of incompetence until the results say otherwise...

Well, then, I guess you could say that second guessing, well it's just really third guessing -- isn't it...

Too many folks gnawing on the same ole bone, huh...?

Constantly, even when he was with the Cowboys, we would hear about Parcells calling in some advice to our FO about players. Don't get me wrong, I like his eye for FA talent, but you'd think that if they needed this type of advice they'd bring in personnel experts to give it to them. Maybe it's just a case of Parcells tooting his own horn in the press about dealing out advice, but it doesn't speak well that a floundering team like the Jets is constantly relying to the information of a guy who walked out on us after he wrecked our salary cap situation.

Then that makes more sense, although I am surprised he is telling the press this shortly after he took the job.

When did asking the advice of one of the greatest football minds in history become a knock?

Not only that, but he's played the mentor role for both of these guys at very early into their football careers.

Now, Abysmul, when you like somebody enough to have a conversation that actually might go somewhere, why do you care what his job is now or then? There's a difference between talking with your guys and working with your rivals. Especially before you take a counterveiling position with the saps down in Miama.

Think of what Faneca could do for Brick and Mangold in terms of mentoring a leadership... i'd sign him- anything is better than Clarke-- we have the worst LG in the game right now.

Now, Redneck, for the Parcells of the game, "your guys" are one thing, and competition is another. How does this reporter know what the difference is?

That's, I think, a fair question. Parcells isn't going to keep any relationships if he's fickle for his ambitions. I think the quality and tenure of his friendships have to speak for themselves.

Left guard is such a crying need in NYJ land, who do you think should fill it, I mean, ideally?

Then, having you say that, how does Faneca measure up?

Maybe it's just the idea of Parcells blabbing to the media about what moves he is advising the Jets to make that bothers me, especially now that it comes out of the pen of a Dolphins beat writer after Parcells actually does take the job with a division rival. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Phins jump into the mix for Faneca as well, and if they do then this 'blurb' is less of a casual comment because BP does not like speaking to the media casually. This stinks of posturing, and it's why you keep your scouting to your organization for the most part.

This FO has made it clear that they plan on containing personnel info in-house and not going to the press too much, but this was always a possibility, him going to Miami. Parcells is as bloodthirsty as it gets when it comes to protecting his own interests, as evidenced by his alleged tampering before he backed out of the Tampa job. We lost Bill Muir to the Bucs thanks to Parcells. I do not trust the guy to give the Jets advice on what uniform they should wear week-to-week.

Give Chad and Kellen about 3 to 4 seconds to decide on where to fire it and grab hold of your hat, Man! That's what a good line means. OLs are the key to QBs winning MVPs. Bank on it.

Fair question INDEED!!!! I was half kidding with that post.....I've always respected Parcells as an evaluator of talent etc. and even before he said it, I thought we should go after Faneca. BUT NOW, Bill is our enemy and I don't trust anything he says - he is out to win - and our FO better be too!
